Sylprotec advises: To be perfectly safe, we recommend that you always be equipped with smoke detectors (DETECL), as they are essential for alerting building occupants to the start of a fire, but also fire extinguishers (EXABC10), as they can put out small fires before they get out of control. And don't forget a fire escape ladder (ECHELLE) for multi-story buildings, as it can be a safe and quick way of leaving the building in the event of a fire. Finally, we recommend a first-aid kit (TR07).

Did you know?
Fiberglass, a composite material prized for its strength and lightness, has become an indispensable element in many industrial fields. Made up of extremely fine glass filaments, it is obtained by melting and drawing siliceous minerals. These minerals, once transformed into a stream of molten glass, are spun to create fibers as fine as human hair.

You'll find a whole range of flame-retardant products on our Sylprotec site, like our regular-cut pants (V7761), our orange (V1765) or blue 100% flame-retardant coveralls (V1766), our Nomex welder's cap (V308), the FR-TECH flame-retardant safety shirt (V129), our orange long-sleeved flame-retardant jerseys (V339) or its black equivalent (V340). In addition, depending on the nature of your work, you may need our blue types 5 and 6 disposable flame-retardant coveralls (V50), the flame-retardant double-layer neck warmer (V313); a high heat-resistant leather welder's half-gaiter (VCSPL4); a balaclava made of flame-retardant Nomex® (V309) or a 61 cm X 91 cm split-leather bib apron (VT1288) pant Fr-tech (V7764) or regular flame-retardant pants (V7761). You'll also find the woven glove in flame-retardant fiber (GS13FRNE), orange waterproof and flame-retardant safety dungarees (VP5893) perfect in combination with the orange waterproof and flame-retardant safety coat (VP5892).

Peculiarities of:
Fiberglass fire blankets are designed to smother a fire by depriving it of oxygen before it gets out of control.

Application:
In the event of a fire, it is important to remain calm and follow the instructions below:

  1. Remove the blanket from its packaging by pulling on the straps.
  2. Hold the handles between the thumb and forefinger and unfold the blanket.
  3. Hold the blanket with the straps facing upwards.
  4. Turn the top of the blanket slightly over your hands to cover them completely and protect them.
  5. Stand behind the blanket and hold it high enough to protect your face.
  6. Slowly approach the flames with arms outstretched and place the blanket over the fire to cover it completely.
  7. Cut off from the air, the fire goes out immediately, but it may start up again. Leave the blanket in place long enough for the fire to cool down completely.
  8. To check if you can remove it, lift it very slightly at an angle. You can remove it completely only if the fire is well extinguished.

Restriction:
Avoid bending or twisting the blanket, as this may damage the fiberglass. It's important to note that fiberglass fire blankets are for single-use only. They cannot be used a second time.

Maintenance and service life:
Check the condition of your fire blanket regularly to make sure it's in good working order. If you notice any signs of wear or damage, replace the blanket immediately. Store your fire blanket in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and moisture.
