Requires 4 AA alkaline batteries (included). This flashlight is rated for use in hazardous locations with the following types of batteries: Duracell MN1500/PC1500, Energizer E91/EN91, and Rayovac AL-AA/815. The lamp is compatible with other types of AA batteries but they have not been rated for use in hazardous locations.

Safety features include a hydrogen absorbing catalyst, polarized battery contacts to prevent improper battery insertion, and a gas vent in the casing to minimize explosive risks caused by leaking batteries. The compact design fits in pockets and can also be clipped on a hard hat or helmet. The front switch can be easily operated even through gloves. The bulb is protected by a rubber bezel that extends past the window and protects against impacts.
