The UK4AA-AS2 explosion-proof flashlight is designed to provide reliable lighting in environments where safety is critical and where standard equipment is not suitable. With its high-visibility orange housing, front switch and xenon bulb, it is a practical tool for industrial settings, emergency response, inspections and work carried out in areas where appropriate lighting equipment is required. Its compact format fits in a pocket and stays easy to keep close at hand for movement, visual checks, maintenance tasks or building interventions.
Made by Underwater Kinetics (part number 14109, made in the USA), this flashlight is designed for workers who need a simple, durable and easy-to-handle portable light source, even in demanding conditions. Its orange housing also makes it easier to spot among other equipment, a real advantage during an emergency or in a cluttered space.
The key feature of this flashlight is its hazardous-location certification. It meets UL and ULC for CSA hazardous locations: Class I, Division 2, Groups A, B, C & D; Class II, Division 2, Group G; Class III, Division 2; Temperature class T2A. It includes several safety features: a hydrogen-absorbing catalyst, polarized battery contacts that prevent improper battery insertion, and a gas vent in the casing that minimizes explosive risks caused by leaking batteries.
The flashlight requires 4 AA alkaline batteries (included). It is rated for use in hazardous locations with the following batteries: Duracell MN1500/PC1500, Energizer E91/EN91 and Rayovac AL-AA/815. It remains compatible with other AA battery brands, but these have not been rated for hazardous locations.
The UK4AA-AS2 specifications reflect its purpose as a rugged, reliable tool:
As for materials: orange ABS plastic casing, clear polycarbonate window, black polyurethane rubber bezel and stainless-steel metal components. The bulb is protected by a rubber bezel with raised edges that cushions impacts. The flashlight can be clipped on a hard hat or helmet and its easy-access front switch can be operated even while wearing gloves.
Beyond its certification, this flashlight offers concrete benefits in the field.
During an inspection, a power outage, an evacuation or a rapid intervention, a dedicated, reliable light makes a significant difference: it helps you see better and signal your presence.
Drop-resistant to 10 m, IP67 waterproof and fitted with safety features (hydrogen catalyst, polarized contacts, vent), it is built to last in demanding environments.
This explosion-proof flashlight is recommended everywhere certified portable lighting is required:
Insert the 4 AA batteries respecting the polarized contacts (which prevent wrong orientation), then use the front switch to turn on the light. To keep the hazardous-location rating, use the certified battery brands (Duracell MN1500/PC1500, Energizer E91/EN91, Rayovac AL-AA/815). Regularly check the seal and window condition to maintain the IP67 rating, and replace the worn xenon bulb with the dedicated replacement assembly. Remove the batteries if the flashlight will be unused for a long time.
It provides portable lighting in environments where equipment certified for hazardous locations (potentially explosive atmospheres) is required. The UK4AA-AS2 is UL/ULC Class I Division 2 certified.
For hazardous-location use, use the certified AA batteries: Duracell MN1500/PC1500, Energizer E91/EN91 or Rayovac AL-AA/815. Other brands work but are not certified for these locations.
The xenon bulb and its reflector are replaced using the dedicated replacement assembly (LL02A), designed for this flashlight.
To complete your safety lighting equipment, also see the replacement xenon assembly (LL02A), a belt pouch (LL02P), the eLED version of the UK4AA (LL01), a Worksafe work light (LL03), an Energizer Hard Case flashlight (LL05), a hands-free headlight (LL06), AA 1.5 V alkaline batteries (LBAA) or an economical flashlight (LL04).
