This illuminated sign displays the green "running man" pictogram that marks an emergency exit. Lit by LED and housed in a sturdy white enamelled steel casing, it is the economy model without an internal battery : it is intended for buildings where back-up power is provided by a centralized source rather than by a battery built into each sign.
The steel casing offers high sturdiness for heavy use. The sign is made by Aimlite (manufacturer code RPSTUMWHT-UNVDC) and runs on a 120 V or 347 V AC supply. To stay lit during a power failure, it must be connected to a 6 V, 12 V or 24 V DC back-up supply.
This sign complies with the international standards ISO 7010:2011 and ISO 3864-1:2011 (graphic symbols, safety colours and signs), and is certified to the Canadian standards CSA 22.2 No. 141-15 (emergency lighting equipment) and CSA C860 (performance of internally illuminated exit signs). The green "running man" pictogram was adopted in the National Building Code of Canada in 2010 ; the 2015 version (article 3.4.5.1) requires it, and it replaces the traditional red EXIT signs.
This model has no internal battery : it connects to a centralized back-up supply (6 V, 12 V or 24 V DC) to operate during a power failure. Its consumption is very low : 1.9 W on AC and 0.9 W on DC, making it an energy-efficient choice.
The sign sets up single-face for wall mounting, or double-face for side or ceiling mounting. It comes with three interchangeable pictograms (pictogram only, right arrow, left arrow). Use the pictogram only above the exit or in a corridor leading to it ; use the arrows to indicate the evacuation direction in a corner or intersection. For indoor use in a dry environment only : do not use outdoors or in a humid environment.
Sign dimensions : 12 3/16 in W × 7 11/16 in H × 2 in D (31 × 19.5 × 5 cm). Illuminated pictogram : 11 3/8 in × 6 5/16 in (29 × 16 cm).
Exit signs are required in most buildings that host the public or workers :
Because it is more economical when the building already has a centralized back-up supply feeding the signs.
It must be connected to a 6 V, 12 V or 24 V DC back-up supply.
Yes, enamelled steel offers greater sturdiness than plastic for demanding environments.
