This Class A harness provides complete fall arrest protection through its lightweight aluminum alloy dorsal ring, permanently self-positioned vertically for quick connection with a lanyard or self-retracting lifeline. The vest style integrates pre-shaped straps conforming to the worker's body, with five independent adjustment points (shoulders, chest, thighs and sub-pelvic) for optimal force distribution during a fall. The patented 3M auto-locking buckles click and lock in a single motion, eliminating fastening errors in the field. The padded sub-pelvic strap maintains vertical positioning during fall arrest. The integrated RFID Connected Safety ID system allows safety managers to electronically record inspection dates, results and the usage history of each individual harness.
This harness supports a maximum capacity of 310 lb (140.6 kg) including the weight of the worker, clothing and equipment. It is compliant with CSA Z259.10-18 (Safety Harnesses) in force in Canada and meets the requirements of provincial and federal occupational health and safety regulations for work at height. The polyester webbing strength is 6,000 lb (2,722 kg), significantly exceeding regulatory minimums.
The webbing is made from high-strength polyester (6,000 lb) resistant to abrasion, moisture and UV for extended service life on outdoor job sites. The D-rings and slides are made from treated aluminum alloy, and the quick-connect leg buckles use a hybrid aluminum-alloy and zinc-plated-steel construction (light weight and strength at the highest-stress points), offering an excellent strength-to-weight ratio and superior corrosion resistance compared to steel in humid or chemically exposed environments. The RFID Connected Safety ID system is encapsulated within the harness and resists shock, water and dust. The dorsal padding and sub-pelvic belt are made from memory foam covered in breathable fabric, reducing fatigue during long workdays.
The ExoFit X300 Class A vest style harness is recommended for commercial and institutional construction, industrial maintenance at height, roofing work, mechanical and electrical system installation at height, and any application requiring general fall arrest. Available in sizes XS, S, M, L, XL and 2XL to fit all personnel on the job site. The vest style keeps the harness in the correct position throughout the day, even during repetitive movements or ladder climbing.
Before each use, the worker must visually inspect the entire harness: webbing (wear, cuts, chemical burns, excessive UV exposure), hardware (deformation, corrosion, auto-locking buckle function), stitching (fraying, tearing), dorsal ring (deformation, cracks). A thorough inspection by a qualified person must be performed every 6 months under normal use, or every 3 months under intensive use. Maximum service life is 5 years from the date of first use or 10 years from the date of manufacture, whichever comes first. The harness must be immediately removed from service after any fall, even with no apparent visible damage, as the webbing may have sustained internal deformations not visible to the naked eye. Sylprotec offers inspection and certification services for your fall protection equipment.
Clean the webbing with warm water (max 37°C / 98°F) and a mild non-abrasive soap using a soft brush. Never use solvents, bleach, acid or chlorinated products that degrade polyester fibers and reduce webbing strength. Rinse thoroughly with clean water to remove all soap residue. Air dry away from direct heat and UV rays. Never place the harness in a dryer. Clean the aluminum hardware with a dry or slightly damp cloth. Lubricate the auto-locking buckle pivot points with a light coat of dry lubricant if needed. Store away from heat, moisture and chemicals.
The vest style integrates a rigid dorsal panel that keeps the shoulder straps in the correct position even when the worker bends or performs repetitive movements. This reduces adjustments throughout the day and ensures the dorsal ring always remains centered on the back for optimal connection with the connecting device. On a standard harness, straps can shift laterally over time, requiring more frequent re-adjustment during the workday.
Aluminum alloy offers a significantly better strength-to-weight ratio compared to alloy steel. An X300 harness weighs approximately 30% less than a steel hardware harness of equivalent strength, reducing worker fatigue during long days. Aluminum is also more resistant to corrosion in humid, coastal or chemical environments, extending the useful service life of the harness on demanding job sites.
A passive RFID chip is integrated directly into the harness body during manufacturing. Using a compatible 3M Connected Safety reader, safety managers can read each harness unique identifier, record inspection dates, results and events (fall, removal from service). This system eliminates paper tags that detach or become unreadable in the field and enables complete traceability of each piece of equipment in a centralized database.
To complete your fall protection system, add a leading-edge SRL retractable (FPLR73302-40LE) or an energy-absorbing lanyard (FPL1340125C) as your fall arrest connection. Protect the head with a Peak T2 helmet with integrated chin strap (TA222), the eyes with safety glasses (YA11514) and hearing with earplugs (OA1250). For the job, add suitable gloves (G051144) and a flame-resistant garment (V1766).
Under “Accessories” at the bottom of the page. For safe storage and transport of your equipment at height, a Peakworks bag (FPBAG) keeps your gear clean and inspection-ready.
