Nano-Lok DBI-SALA 8 ft Self-Retracting Lifeline Cable Leading Edge

Nano-Lok™ DBI-SALA® 3M personal self-retracting lifeline (SRL) for leading edge applications, 8 ft (2.4 m). Designed for work at height on unprotected leading edges (roofs, steel structures, beams). Single-leg design for fixed workstations or movement along a single anchor line.

3M purchase code: 7012819208, model: 3500251.
This product complies with ANSI Z359.14 Class 2 for leading edge applications.

Unprotected leading edges represent a major hazard: webbing can be severed during a fall if the equipment is not designed for this use. The cable resists sharp cutting edges. The single-leg design suits fixed workstations or single anchor line movement.

Lifeline specifications:

Type: Cable for leading edge
Length: 8 ft (2.4 m)
Fall indicator: Yes (high-capacity external energy absorber)

During a fall, stopping distance varies by anchor arrangement. The high-capacity external energy absorber limits forces on the falling worker. Once deployed, the overload indicator appears. Refer to the manufacturer's manual for stopping distances specific to this model.

Housing is durable lightweight thermoplastic nylon with integrated quick connector for direct harness attachment. Total weight: 5.615 lb (2.55 kg). Integrates IRF (i-Safe) technology.

The cable of this self-retracting lifeline is made of galvanized steel, a zinc-treated metal material designed to resist corrosion. Unlike textile webbing, a steel cable cannot be severed by a sharp steel edge during a fall: the key property for Leading Edge applications. Galvanization also ensures extended longevity in outdoor environments exposed to moisture.

About the anchor point and fall clearance distance

The anchor point must always be above the dorsal D-ring of the harness and positioned vertically relative to the user. The worker should remain below the anchor within a 30-degree angle.

This model is designed for leading edge applications. The cable withstands unprotected sharp edges. The anchor must withstand 5,000 lb. Consult the manufacturer's manual for full details.

Leading Edge Cable Self-Retracting Lifeline Inspection

Perform a routine inspection before each use. Look for signs of deterioration, wear, or damage. Replace at the slightest sign of failure. A qualified person must inspect periodically (every 90 or 180 days, or annually). Recommended service life: 5 years. Visit the Service tab for Sylprotec inspection services.

Any equipment subjected to a fall or impact must be taken out of service.

Maintenance and Cleaning of the Nano-Lok Cable Lifeline

Clean with mild soap and warm water (37°C). No bleach or abrasives. Air dry. Fully retract when not in use.

FAQ : Nano-Lok Self-Retracting Lifeline DBI-SALA FPLR3500251

What is the difference between this single-leg and the twin-leg model (3500250)?

The single-leg version (3500251) suits fixed workstations or movement along a single anchor line. The twin-leg version (3500250) enables continuous connection when transitioning between anchor points. For rooftop work requiring uninterrupted protection during movement, the twin-leg version is recommended.

Is the cable necessary for cutting edges?

Yes, polyester webbing can be severed by a sharp steel edge during a fall. The cable resists this type of cut. This model is rated ANSI Z359.14 Class 2 specifically for leading edge use.

Can this model be used in standard environments without leading edges?

Yes, the Nano-Lok Leading Edge works in standard applications too. Its cable is more robust than webbing models, making it heavier. In environments without sharp edges, a lighter webbing model may be preferable.

For work on unprotected leading edges, pair this lifeline with a harness ExoFit X300 Class APL (FPH1403185C) designed for climbing and positioning, or the harness ExoFit X300 Class AP (FPH1403166C) for optimal mobility. Add safety glasses SecureFit 400 (YASF401BG) to protect your eyes and earplugs EARsoft (OA1250) against noise on site. Under "Accessories" at the bottom of this page.

The gloves Dyneema PU A4 cut-resistant (GS13SXGPU) protect your hands when handling sharp materials at height, and the bag Peakworks (FPBAG) keeps your fall protection equipment clean and ready for inspection between uses.
