Smart Lock™ Arc Flash DBI-SALA® 3M self-retracting lifeline (SRL), 20 ft (6.1 m), Kevlar® rope, blue. Capacity: 420 lb (190 kg). Designed for work at height near energized equipment and in arc flash hazard zones.
3M purchase code: 7100217578, model: 3503805.
Complies with CSA Z259.2.2-17. Made to order by 3M. Allow approximately 1 month.
Smart Lock distinguishes normal work movements from an actual fall, reducing nuisance lock-ups while ensuring immediate arrest. The Kevlar rope withstands the intense heat generated by an electric arc, unlike galvanized cable or standard polyester webbing.
Maximum arresting force: 1,350 lbf / 6 kN. Glass-filled nylon housing. IRF (RFID) technology.
The rope of this self-retracting lifeline is made of Kevlar® fiber, a high-performance synthetic material developed by DuPont. Kevlar provides exceptional mechanical resistance to friction and abrasion, while withstanding high temperatures without degrading. Unlike standard polyester webbing which can ignite during an electric arc, Kevlar fiber resists the intense heat generated by such incidents. This SRL is specifically recommended for work near energized equipment.
The anchor point must always be above the dorsal D-ring of the harness and positioned vertically relative to the user. The worker should remain below the anchor within a 30-degree angle. Consult the manufacturer's manual for specific stopping distances.

Perform a routine inspection before each use. Look for deterioration, wear, or damage. A qualified person must inspect periodically (every 90 or 180 days). Recommended service life: 5 years. Visit the Service tab for inspection services.
Any equipment subjected to a fall or impact must be taken out of service.
Clean with mild soap and warm water (37°C). No bleach or abrasives. Air dry. Fully retract when not in use.
This model uses a Kevlar® rope instead of galvanized steel cable. Kevlar withstands the intense heat generated by an electric arc, unlike galvanized cable which can degrade. Specifically designed for work near energized equipment.
Yes, Kevlar rope works in all environments. However, for standard applications without arc flash risk, a galvanized cable model (FPLR3503803) offers the same Smart Lock at lower cost.
FPLR3503805 complies with CSA Z259.2.2-17. The Kevlar rope meets heat and arc flash resistance requirements per applicable ASTM F887 and NFPA 70E standards.
Pair with a harness ExoFit X300 Classe A croisé (FPH1403198C), or the harness ExoFit X300 Classe A veste (FPH11401C) for maximum mobility. Add safety glasses SecureFit 400 (YASF401BG) and earplugs EARsoft (OA1250). Under "Accessories" at the bottom of this page.
The gloves Dyneema PU A4 (GS13SXGPU) protect your hands at height. The bag Peakworks (FPBAG) keeps your equipment clean. For arc flash work without Smart Lock, the Nano-Lok Arc Flash 8 ft Kevlar (FPLR3101547) is also available.
