The DBI-SALA 3M tandem pulley is a two-sheave trolley designed to roll along a rope or cable and pass intermediate points without detaching. It accepts a 3/8 to 1/2 in rope or cable and connects with a carabiner. Its aluminum and stainless steel construction provides lightness and corrosion resistance.
Capacity is 141 kg (310 lb) and minimum breaking strength is 5,000 lb. The pulley connects by carabiner only and rolls on the rope or cable, letting a load or a worker move without detaching the protection at intermediate points. It does not form a rescue system on its own: it is used with a rope or cable, anchors, a harness and appropriate devices. Always have the design and verification of the setup carried out by a competent person or engineer, per the applicable provincial regulation.
Before each use, visually inspect the sheaves, side plates, rivets and connection point for any sign of corrosion, deformation, cracking or wear. Check that the sheaves turn freely. Remove any damaged pulley from service. A formal inspection by a competent person must be performed at least annually.
Keep the pulley clean and dry. Clean it with water and mild soap, then air dry away from direct heat. Aluminum and stainless steel resist corrosion well in normal outdoor use.
A 3/8 to 1/2 in rope or cable.
By carabiner only; the connecting hardware must be compatible in size and strength.
No. It is a trolley used with a rope or cable, anchors, a harness and appropriate rescue devices, ordered separately.
The tandem pulley is used to move a load or a worker along a rope or cable, notably during a height rescue or descent operation. The rescuer who sets it up works exposed to the void and wears his personal protective equipment: a full DBI-SALA harness (FPH140103XCAP) tied to his energy-absorbing lanyard (FPL5400), cut-resistant gloves (G378GKGVBE), safety glasses (YA11329), a protective helmet (TA80) and earplugs (OA1101).
This tandem pulley integrates into a rescue setup: pair it with the rescue and descent device RollGliss R550 (FPLR5503325) to evacuate a worker, and mark off the ground area with warning tape (ECT3YE1).
