This type of glove bag has been design for the safe removal of asbestos insulation around pipes.

These polyethylene bags must be securely fit around the pipes that need insulation removal. They are equipped with sleeves in which the worker slides his hands and arms to remove the insulation jacket. Through an opening the worker has to make, a wetting agent which will saturate the insulation thus eliminating the formation and spreading of hazardous dust may be spread. Pay particular attention to whenever you are making the hole in the bag, since it must remain airtight at all time. The recommended method is to make the hole once the bag is properly installed on the pipe and tape the hole once the nozzle and a part of the wand of your sprayer which contains your wetting agent is inside the bag. The insulation jacket’s tailings are sent and loaded in the lower part of the glove bag before the assembly rollback. Once you’re ready to remove your equipment from the aperture you made, it is strongly suggested to seal the hole with more heavy-duty tape as quick as possible. According to the industry, one must also dispose of the glove bag by inserting it in a bag for asbestos (SAC3350) or polyethylene tarp (SACCT3) identified for asbestos.

This particular model of glove bag is designed to be used on horizontal pipes of a diameter of 14 inches or less. The bags are laid back to back in their box. You may cut them according to your need, but you have to take into considerations that an extra-length is needed to allow you to tighten the bag so that you can remove your tools from the bag. Moreover, whenever you install a bag over a pipe, it must cover the whole section that needs to be worked on without stretching the bag over it. To give you an idea of what it should look like, once the bag is set over the pipe, it should look a little like a shower curtain. It is usually in use whenever a large surface of insulation must be removed. If you need glove bags for smaller pipes, check out the (SAHSR8) and (SAHSR10) items.

These bags have no zippers and can’t be moved once installed on a pipe, they are thus for a single use only.

We would like to stress on the importance of the established procedures of the industry as for the safe use of glove bags, that is, the appropriate containment measures of the zone, the personal protection equipment, the tools, and the many different wetting and lockdown agents.
