The professional solution for long-lasting containment for your asbestos abatement projects, choose a reliable, durable, and standards-compliant solution. The Foster Childers blue 20 L permanent encapsulant is specifically designed to seal asbestos-containing materials, both indoors and outdoors. Its water-based paste formula ensures easy application and long-lasting protection against the release of hazardous fibers.
The Foster Childers CP-211-3 permanent encapsulant is a water-based, blue-colored product designed to seal asbestos-containing materials. It forms a continuous film with a thickness of 6 to 10 mils (0.15 to 0.25 mm) that prevents the release of asbestos fibers into the air. This product is recommended when asbestos must remain in place, particularly on pipes, ducts, joints, or already encapsulated surfaces.
It can be applied to a wide variety of substrates, whether porous or non-porous, and withstands temperatures ranging from -29°C to 93°C. Its fire-retardant formula is ASTM E84 class A certified. It provides coverage of 40 to 46 sq. ft. per gallon, depending on the porosity of the surface.
Before applying the permanent asbestos encapsulant, ensure the surface is clean, dry, and free of contaminants. The product must be used undiluted. It can be applied using a brush, roller, trowel, or a sprayer suitable for viscous liquids.
Apply an even coat over the entire surface. Drying time varies depending on thickness, ambient temperature, and humidity. Once dry, the film is flexible, resistant, and durable.
The Foster Childers encapsulant should be stored in its original container, protected from freezing, and at a temperature not exceeding 38°C (ideal storage at 25°C). Reseal the bucket tightly after each use to prevent evaporation or contamination. Do not apply on surfaces sloped more than ½ inch per linear foot or on floors.
Use the Foster Childers blue asbestos encapsulant in a well-ventilated environment and wear appropriate personal protective equipment (P100 respirator, gloves, coveralls). Apply the product to asbestos-containing materials that cannot be removed, to stabilize them permanently. Avoid applying the product at temperatures below 4°C or on surfaces that may exceed 93°C.
Yes, Foster Childers blue is designed for both indoor and outdoor asbestos abatement work. It withstands temperature variations and forms a durable protective film against asbestos fibers.
Yes, this encapsulant is compatible with surfaces that have already been treated. It adheres effectively to most materials, even those previously encapsulated, to reinforce the asbestos barrier.
A 20 L (5 US gal) bucket covers between 185 and 210 sq. ft. (approximately 17 to 19.5 m²), depending on the thickness applied and the porosity of the material. This makes it a cost-effective and high-performance choice for large-scale asbestos abatement projects.
