The 2 x 2 inch (5 x 5 cm) Sterile Pressure Dressing is a specialized first aid tool designed to apply direct, controlled pressure to a wound while maintaining total asepsis. Unlike a standard compress, this "all-in-one" dressing includes an attached fixation bandage, allowing for rapid intervention during an accident to control minor hemorrhaging. It is an indispensable element for workplace first aid kits and personal emergency kits across Canada.
You'll also find this model in 4 X 4 inch (PS319) or 6 X 6 inch (PS320).

Designed to provide reliable fixation and hold compresses in place, ensuring continuous wound protection.
Application should be direct and firm. Tear open the sterile packaging, place the 2 x 2 pad directly onto the bleeding wound, and then use the attached bandage to wrap the limb. Pull the bandage with enough tension to slow or stop the bleeding, but be careful not to totally block arterial flow (check that extremities remain pink). Secure the end of the bandage by tucking it under a fold or using medical tape.
To guarantee the equipment's effectiveness during an accident, store your pressure dressings in a dry place away from direct light. Regularly inspect your first aid kit to ensure the pouches are not punctured. Although durable, these dressings have an expiration date that must be respected to ensure the product's sterility. Since they are sold individually, it is easy to replace exactly what was used after an intervention.
This 2 x 2 inch format is specifically adapted for small extremities. For larger injuries on arms or legs, we recommend also stocking 4 x 4 or 6 x 6 inch formats. Remember that this dressing is for single use. Once the bleeding is controlled and the patient is taken over by healthcare professionals, the dressing should be disposed of according to biomedical standards.
While sterile, its primary function is compression to stop bleeding. For a burn, a non-adherent dressing (like Telfa) or a gel dressing is preferable to prevent fibers from sticking to the burned skin.
o, it uses an attached stretch gauze wrap. To secure it firmly, simply tie the ends or use a small piece of medical adhesive tape.
