ExoFit X100 Class ALP Tower Climbing Harness DBI-SALA 3M

The 3M DBI-SALA ExoFit X100 Class ALP harness is specifically designed for tower climbing, telecom structures and wind turbine work. It combines three functions in one: fall arrest (dorsal D-ring), vertical lifeline climbing (sternal D-ring) and work positioning (lateral hip D-rings). This harness is vest style, with vertical shoulder straps for easy donning and optimal comfort.

It features a rigid seat strap with seat pad for comfortable, stable seated positioning during extended suspension work (tower and wind-turbine climbing), plus a padded work belt. It also includes an integrated adapter to easily connect an individual self-retracting lifeline. Made in the USA, compliant with CSA Z259.10-18.

Technical description : 6 D-rings, buckle types and components

This harness features 6 zinc-plated steel D-rings: 1 dorsal stand-up D-ring with anti-slip back pad, 1 sternal (front) D-ring for connection to a vertical lifeline during climbing, 2 lateral hip D-rings for hands-free work positioning, and 2 D-rings on the seat straps for seated positioning in suspension.

The quick-connect chest buckle keeps the fit secure throughout the shift. Tongue-buckle (grommet) leg straps ensure precise and secure adjustment. The integrated sub-pelvic strap prevents orthostatic suspension syndrome in the event of a fall.

Plastic end caps prevent fraying. The integrated 3M CSID (Connected Safety ID) enables inventory management and inspection tracking. Available in 5 sizes: Small, Medium, Large, Extra Large and 2X-Large.

Load capacity and CSA Z259.10-18 certification

Maximum load: 310 lb (140.6 kg) including clothing, tools and equipment. Compliant with CSA Z259.10-18 for the Canadian market. Made to order by 3M : allow approximately 1 month for delivery.

Materials : UV resistance, acid resistance and easy inspection

High-strength polyester webbing: superior resistance to acids, UV and weather. Unpainted zinc-plated alloy steel hardware: direct visual inspection without masking corrosion. Leg and back padding for comfort during long climbs.

Application : tower climbing, wind turbines and telecommunications

Ideal for: telecom tower climbing, electrical pylons and wind turbine structures. Class ALP combines fall arrest (A), vertical lifeline climbing (L) and work positioning (P). Available in 5 sizes (Small to 2X-Large). Use with a vertical cable grab connected to the sternal ring during ascent.

Mandatory inspection before each use

Inspect before every use: check for wear, tears, buckle or D-ring deformation, webbing degradation or chemical contamination. Qualified-person inspection at regular intervals (90 days recommended). Maximum service life: 5 years from first use. Remove from service immediately after any fall or impact, even with no visible damage. Sylprotec offers fall protection equipment inspection services.

Care and cleaning

Wash in warm water (37°C / 98.6°F) with mild soap. Never use bleach, solvents or abrasive products. Rinse thoroughly. Air dry away from direct heat and sunlight. Store in a dry location away from UV. Replace if heavily contaminated or exposed to aggressive chemicals.

Frequently asked questions : ExoFit X100 Class ALP Harness

What is the difference between Class AL and Class ALP?

A Class AL harness combines fall arrest (A) and vertical lifeline climbing (L). Class ALP adds work positioning (P) via lateral hip D-rings, enabling hands-free positioning once at height. This model is therefore more versatile for technicians who need to both climb and work on the structure.

Can this harness be used for general construction?

Yes, but this harness is optimized for tower climbing and wind energy work. For general construction without vertical lifeline climbing, a Class A or AP harness at lower cost is more appropriate. Contact us to select the right harness for your specific work.

What is the integrated 3M CSID?

The CSID (Connected Safety ID) is a chip built directly into the harness. It enables inventory management, inspection date tracking and usage history via the 3M app : without any additional external tag.

Complementary suggestions

To complete your fall protection system, add a leading-edge SRL retractable (FPLR75105-6LE) or an energy-absorbing lanyard (FPL1340180C) as your fall arrest connection. Protect the head with a Peak T2 helmet with integrated chin strap (TA222), the eyes with safety glasses (YASF401BG) and hearing with earplugs (OA101). For the job, add suitable gloves (GMXVSB) and a flame-resistant garment (V7705).

For safe storage and transport of your equipment at height, a Peakworks bag (FPBAG) keeps your gear clean and inspection-ready. These items are grouped under the "Accessories" section at the bottom of the page.
