The 3M Speedglas G5-01 auto-darkening welding filter is a high-technology replacement part designed exclusively for the 3M Speedglas G5-01 welding helmet. Thanks to the exclusive natural color technology of the G5 series, this filter delivers a remarkably clear and colorful view, enabling welders to distinguish weld details with enhanced precision compared to conventional filters. Its shade 3 light state and variable dark shades from 5 to 13 switch automatically in 0.1 milliseconds, providing optimal protection from the moment the arc strikes.
3M purchase code: 7100217128, model: 46-0000-30i-CA
The G5-01 filter is compliant with ANSI Z87.1-2015 when used with the 3M Speedglas G5-01 welding helmet. It integrates 4 arc detection sensors and 5-level adjustable sensitivity, delivering reliable performance on TIG processes from as low as 1 ampere, as well as for MIG/MAG and electrode welding. Bluetooth compatibility with the 3M Connected Safety app enables remote configuration without interrupting work. Sold individually, this filter is available on special order from Sweden.
The filter features a 71 mm by 108 mm viewing window, one of the widest formats in its category. Its comfort mode for tack welding and its 0.1 ms clearing delay reduce eye fatigue during long welding days. For filter maintenance, clean gently with a clean cloth and avoid abrasive cleaners. The Speedglas warranty and service agreement is available at 3m.com/SGwarranty.
Precision TIG welding: the G5-01 filter detects TIG arcs from 1 ampere, making it essential for precision work on stainless steel, titanium, and special alloys where low amperages are common.
Metal fabrication and processing: for MIG/MAG and electrode welding workshops, the 0.1 ms response effectively protects against arc flash and intense light projections from high-productivity processes.
Heavy infrastructure and construction: on structural steel, bridge, and framework job sites, the G5-01 filter's robustness and wide viewing window improve weld quality by enabling better observation of the weld pool.
Industrial maintenance: maintenance technicians who weld in difficult positions benefit from natural color technology to assess metal condition and position the electrode with precision.
The G5-01 filter's natural color technology represents a significant advance over conventional welding filters. Shade 3 light state provides a clear view of the work area before arc strike, while dark shades 5 to 13 protect the eyes from the most intense radiation. The integrated comfort mode allows a temporary reduction in protection during tack welding, improving comfort and productivity on repetitive tasks.
The 46-0000-30i auto-darkening filter is designed exclusively for the 3M Speedglas G5-01 welding helmet. It cannot be used with other Speedglas models (9100 series, Adflo series, etc.) as the dimensions and mounting system are specific to the G5 series. Always verify filter compatibility with your helmet before ordering.
The G5-01 filter's arc detection sensitivity is adjustable on 5 levels via the 3M Connected Safety app, accessible via Bluetooth connection. A high sensitivity level is recommended for low-amperage TIG welding, while a lower level is appropriate for intense light environments such as workshops with multiple active welding stations. Consult the user guide for recommended settings per process.
Replace the G5-01 filter when you notice cracks, deep scratches on the viewing window, or if the automatic switching between light and dark shades is no longer reliable. A defective filter compromises eye protection against welding radiation. Use the Speedglas warranty and service program available at 3m.com/SGwarranty for access to replacement parts and refurbishment services.
For complete protection during welding with the G5-01 helmet, Superior Touch Dyneema gloves (GS13SXGPU) provide cut resistance for metal work. Horizon latex gloves (G051144) are versatile for finishing tasks. The EARsoft earplugs (OA1252C) protect hearing in noisy workshops. The Tyvek coverall (VTY122SWH) protects against light spatter and contaminants. The nitrile gloves (GZ13POFN) are available as an economical alternative. Under "Accessories" at the bottom of the page.
To complete your G5-01 helmet, the interior protection plates (R06-0200-30) preserve the filter. The exterior protection (R06-0200-51) protects from scratches. The bag SG-90 (RSG90) makes transport of your complete helmet easy.
