The 3M Speedglas G5NC 46-0000-20 auto-darkening filter keeps to the essentials: a natural-colour image, welding shades 8 to 12, cutting mode 5 and grinding mode in light state 3. Its 55 x 107 mm window keeps the joint well in view, and its 3 sensors adjust to your process. Sold as one filter, it equips a compatible G5-03 or the G5-01 (RG501) helmet, with its 06-0200-21 (R06-0200-21) inside cover.

The G5NC 46-0000-20 is made for welders who want a clear, simple and effective filter. Its Natural Colour technology shows the weld pool and workpiece in natural colours, for more comfortable reading of the joint. Adjustment is done right on the filter: welding shades 8 to 12, cutting mode 5 and grinding mode in light state 3. Three sensors and five sensitivity settings fine-tune detection, and the recovery delay can be set so each weld ends smoothly. It suits most MMA, MIG/MAG and TIG, including low-current TIG processes. Sold as one filter, it replaces a worn filter or equips a G5 helmet supplied without optics.
According to the March 2025 G5NC technical sheet, this filter fits the G5-01 (RG501) helmet and all compatible G5-03 helmets. Its inner face is protected by the 06-0200-21 (R06-0200-21) cover, specific to the G5NC; outside covers are chosen for the equipped helmet among those listed by 3M. It is recommended for metal fabrication and processing.
Fit the G5NC in a compatible helmet with its dedicated covers. Check the two CR2032 batteries, set the shade, sensitivity and recovery delay, then verify that the filter works properly before welding.
Use helmet cleaning time to check the covers, sensors and batteries. A marked cover is replaced separately and keeps the filter in good condition for the next jobs. If the filter switches shade poorly, follow the troubleshooting steps in the technical sheet before returning it to service.
This filter is not suitable for laser welding or cutting, or for processes requiring a shade greater than 12.
The G5NC provides permanent UV and IR protection equivalent to shade 12; always choose the welding shade according to the process and current. Stop welding if the filter does not darken correctly.
Welding shades 8 to 12, cutting mode 5 and grinding mode in light state 3. The technical sheet clearly separates these three ranges.

The 06-0200-21, an anti-fog cover specific to this filter. The G5TW and G5VC use a different cover, the 06-0200-40.
It runs on 2 CR2032 batteries, with a published battery life of 2500 h.
The G5NC focuses on natural colour and direct adjustment. The G5TW adds a tack welding mode and the G5VC a variable colour; both offer a wider welding range.
Under a G5-03 helmet fitted with the G5NC, the welder keeps anti-fog Genesis glasses (YAU3200) and a Nomex hood (V309). Split-leather welding gloves (G601), reusable UltraFit earplugs (OA4002) and a black flame-resistant long-sleeve shirt (V340) complete the outfit. Before starting, adjust this equipment to your work clothing and inspect its condition while preparing the welding station.
Behind the G5NC filter, choose the anti-fog (R06-0200-21) plate or the inside (R06-0200-20) cover to match the setup. The passive (R126000) plate instead belongs to the passive filter setup. The holder (R46-0680-00) takes a magnifying lens when the job calls for it. The SG-90 (RSG90) bag provides storage for the helmet between jobs.
