The DBI-SALA® 3M 8301075 3-way system is designed for entry and rescue operations in confined spaces where the environment is corrosive, chemical, marine or food-grade. It combines a 7 ft (2.13 m) aluminum tripod, a 60 ft (18.288 m) personnel winch and a 50 ft (15.24 m) 3-function self-retracting lifeline (SRL) with stainless steel cable. Load capacity reaches 22 kN (5,000 lb). Gross weight: 129 lb (~58.5 kg). Packaging dimensions: 21 in × 34 in × 78 in. UPC: 00648250257623.
3M order code: 7100328026, model: 8301075.
This product complies with CSA Z1220-17 confined space equipment standard, as well as CSA Z259.2.2 (type 3 self-retracting lifelines), ANSI Z359 and OSHA 1910.146.
Under “Accessories” at the bottom of the page. The stainless version of the 3-way system is essential in contexts where galvanized steel would not last long: refineries, chemical plants, wastewater treatment with high H₂S, marine or offshore environments, food processing plants subject to high-pressure washing with disinfectants. The stainless cable retains its mechanical properties even after repeated exposure to corrosive agents, which extends useful life and reduces replacement costs.
Air quality warning for confined spaces:
The corrosive environments that justify choosing a stainless cable are precisely those where the atmosphere presents the most chemical risks: H₂S in sewers and treatment plants, ammonia vapors in food processing, hydrocarbons in refineries. Air quality validation is therefore even more critical with this type of equipment. A MSA Altair 4X multi-gas detector (DETEC4G) must measure O₂, LEL, CO and H₂S before entry and throughout the work. For specific contaminants (SO₂, NO₂, NH₃, VOCs), additional sensors are available. Quebec OSH Regulation (art. 297 to 312) and CSA Z1006 require a written emergency plan, forced ventilation and a surface attendant at all times.
Technical specifications:
Tripod height: 7 ft (2.13 m). Personnel winch: 60 ft (18.288 m). 3-way SRL: 50 ft (15.24 m). Capacity: 22 kN (5,000 lb). SRL cable material: stainless steel. Structure material: aluminum. Lead time: made to order (~15 calendar days).
Aluminum and stainless steel material:
The aluminum structure guarantees lightness and portability in the field, a decisive asset for maintenance teams moving between several intervention points. The stainless steel SRL cable resists chlorides, salt water, weak acids and alkaline solutions. It retains its tensile strength and flexibility properties even after years of exposure to aggressive atmospheres. This is the logical choice for offshore operations, wastewater treatment plants, fermentation tanks, chemical product silos and confined spaces in food processing where chemical sterilization is frequent.
Routine inspection before each use by the operator. Qualified inspection by a competent person every 90 or 180 days depending on frequency of use. Recommended service life: 5 years. Immediate out-of-service after fall, impact or SRL activation. In aggressive environments, increase weekly visual inspection frequency. Sylprotec offers an annual inspection service performed by qualified technician.
Maintenance: rinse with lukewarm water (37 °C) and mild soap after each exposure to a corrosive product. Air-dry. Store in the dedicated transport bag (FPLR9503094) away from moisture.
Choose stainless as soon as your confined space is exposed to chemicals, chlorides, salt water, acidic or alkaline vapors, or regular chemical washing. The initial extra cost is largely offset by the extended service life.
Yes, both cables offer the same nominal capacity of 22 kN (5,000 lb) and meet the same CSA Z259.2.2 and ANSI Z359 standards. The difference is solely about corrosion resistance.
Stainless requires little maintenance, but after each exposure to a corrosive environment, a clear water rinse and drying significantly extends service life. Never use steel wool or abrasive.
For the descending worker, choose an ExoFit X300 Class A harness (FPH1403198C) or the vest version ExoFit X300 (FPH11401C). For sensory protection in noisy or dusty environments, add safety glasses (YASF401BG) and ear earplugs (OA1250).
Complete with Dyneema PU level A4 cut-resistant gloves (GS13SXGPU) and a suitable transport bag (FPLR9503094). For a standard non-corrosive environment where the stainless extra cost is not necessary, the galvanized version FPLR8301074 is more economical.
