The FPA1540B is the concrete anchor bolt from the mounting hardware used with the 5K Swivel permanent anchor FPA1540. It consists of a hex-head concrete bolt and a concrete plug, and measures 4 in (10.16 cm) long. It is the part that solidly anchors the 5K Swivel into the slab. Sold individually.
The FPA1540 is supplied with its bolt included; this FPA1540B remains available separately when only the mounting hardware is required, for replacement or preparation of a new installation. Hiigard manufacturer code: SWY2CSA-475.
A dedicated mounting part, this bolt anchors the 5K Swivel into concrete and lets you plan a spare part without repurchasing the complete anchor.
Use a drill, ideally with an SDS chuck, to drill a ½ in (13 mm) diameter hole with a minimum depth of 4½ in (114 mm). The hole location must be more than 8 in (203 mm) from the edge of the slab. The hole must be perpendicular to the slab and cleaned of all debris before installation. The slab must be at least 7 in (178 mm) thick and the concrete must offer a minimum strength of 3000 psi (20.7 MPa). Finally, tighten the bolt to 40 ft-lb (54.23 N·m), according to the manufacturer's instructions. Recommended operating temperatures are -30 °F to +130 °F (-34 °C to +54 °C).
Before installation or recommissioning of an anchorage point, check the condition of the bolt, plug, thread and concrete surface. Any deformation, significant corrosion, abnormal wear or damage requires replacement of the part. An anchor that has sustained an impact or arrested a fall must be taken out of service immediately and replaced according to the applicable instructions. Sylprotec offers a fall protection equipment inspection service; see the Services tab.
Here are the most frequent questions about the inclusion, drilling and tightening of this mounting bolt.
Yes. The FPA1540 is sold with its bolt included, and the FPA1540B is also sold separately as mounting or replacement hardware.
The manufacturer indicates a ½ in (13 mm) diameter hole, with a minimum depth of 4½ in (114 mm), more than 8 in (203 mm) from the edge of the slab.
The indicated tightening torque is 40 ft-lb (54.23 N·m), according to the manufacturer's instructions.
To complete your installation, this bolt is used with the 5K Swivel anchor and the rest of the fall protection chain. Depending on the support and the type of work, you will choose a permanent, reusable or temporary anchor, then the associated equipment.
Also consider the 5K Swivel anchor (FPA1540), a class A harness (FPH1000A), a panic-lock grab (FPACC), a vertical lifeline rope (FPAC), the complete roofer kit (FPK50), a stainless permanent anchorage connector (FPA826), a reusable roof anchor (FPA827) and a storage bag (FPBAG).
