The 5K Swivel permanent anchor is a fixed anchorage point designed for the fall protection of workers at height, on a concrete or metal surface. Its innovative swivel design is its key strength: the D-ring rotates 360° to prevent lanyard twisting, and it flips 180° to eliminate gate loading on the connector. It serves as a permanent attachment point to connect a harness to a fall protection system.
Built from zinc-plated steel, this anchor is designed by the manufacturer to withstand static forces of 5000 lbf (22.3 kN), in compliance with the ANSI Z359.1-2007 and ANSI Z359.7-2011 standards and OSHA 1926.502 requirements. The maximum worker weight is 310 lb (141 kg), including clothing, tools and equipment. According to the supplier, CSA certification is not provided, as it was not deemed necessary for a 5000 lbf anchor. Hiigard manufacturer code: HG-1540CSA. Sold individually.
Built to last in a fixed location, this swivel anchor keeps the connector well aligned and reduces lanyard wear, making it a reliable permanent anchorage point on concrete and metal alike.
Safe installation of this anchor requires a smooth surface that allows it to seat completely. On concrete, the slab must be at least 7 in (178 mm) thick and offer a minimum strength of 3000 psi (20.7 MPa). The anchor must be fastened using the included FPA1540B bolt, drilled and tightened according to the manufacturer's instructions. As with any fall protection anchorage point, the location must be selected by a competent person: prefer a point above the harness dorsal D-ring, and always assess the fall distance, the free clearance below the worker, the rescue measures and the anchor strength (5000 lbf).
Before each use, inspect the anchor for any sign of corrosion, cracking, deformation, wear or loose fasteners, and check the integrity of the D-ring and the swivel. Any anchor that is damaged, deformed or has been subjected to a fall must be taken out of service immediately. A qualified person other than the user should also carry out a periodic inspection. Sylprotec offers a fall protection equipment inspection service; to learn more, see the Services tab.
Keep the anchor clean: wash it with mild soap and lukewarm water to remove dirt and debris, avoid abrasive or chemical products, then dry it thoroughly. Regularly check the bolt tightness and the condition of the concrete surface. Replace the anchor at the first sign of corrosion, deformation or wear of the fixing points.
Here are the most frequent questions about the included bolt, concrete installation and compliance of this swivel permanent anchor.
Yes. The FPA1540 is sold with its mounting bolt included. The FPA1540B bolt is also sold separately, for replacement or installation planning.
Yes, if the surface is smooth, the minimum slab thickness is 7 in (178 mm), and the concrete strength is at least 3000 psi (20.7 MPa), according to the manufacturer's instructions.
The supplier states compliance with ANSI Z359.1-2007, ANSI Z359.7-2011 and OSHA 1926.502. CSA certification is not provided for this 5000 lbf anchor.
To build a complete fall protection system, this permanent anchor combines with other equipment in the protection chain. Depending on the support and the type of work, you will choose a permanent, reusable or temporary anchor, then the rest of the fall protection equipment.
Also consider the concrete bolt (FPA1540B), a class A harness (FPH1000A), a panic-lock grab (FPACC), a vertical lifeline rope (FPAC), the complete roofer kit (FPK50), a stainless permanent anchorage connector (FPA826), a reusable roof anchor (FPA827) and a storage bag (FPBAG).
