The Allegro 12" / 30.48 cm diameter flexible duct is designed for use with a 12" diameter axial blower such as the RA9539-12. It is available in three lengths: 6 ft / 1.82 m, 15 ft / 4.57 m, and 25 ft / 7.62 m, to accommodate the varying dimensions of confined spaces encountered on job sites. This duct operates in both directions, allowing both extraction of contaminated gases (purging) before a worker enters and ventilation by pushing fresh air into the confined space during operations. Its design maximizes airflow while minimizing friction along the duct run. Allegro Industries manufacturer's codes are: 9550-06 for the 6 ft, 9550-15 for the 15 ft, and 9550-25 for the 25 ft. This duct is made of vinyl and polyester coated with polyvinyl chloride (PVC), a flexible, lightweight material that resists water spray and common job-site chemicals. To choose the right length, evaluate the distance between the confined space opening and the work zone inside. Always allow a slight extra margin to ease installation and prevent the duct from being stretched to its maximum, which would reduce airflow. The duct must be used with a 12" diameter blower — it is not compatible with 8" blowers. To join two 12" ducts and achieve a greater length, use the RACONN-12 galvanized steel connector.

Is this duct explosion-proof?

No. The RA9550 duct is designed for confined spaces that do not present an explosion hazard. If your confined space contains or may contain flammable gases or vapours, you must use the antistatic explosion-proof duct RA9550X with the explosion-proof blower RA9548-25EX.

Which length should I choose for my confined space?

For a standard vertical access, the 15 ft / 4.57 m model suits most average-depth sewer manholes. For deeper spaces or configurations with bends, choose the 25 ft / 7.62 m model. For even greater distances, two ducts can be joined using the RACONN-12 connector.

What is the difference between the RA9550 and the RA9550X?

The RA9550 is a standard vinyl/PVC duct, non explosion-proof, for spaces without explosion hazard. The RA9550X is the antistatic and explosion-proof version, made with special materials (neoprene coating, UL-94 V0) and equipped with ground wires at both ends, mandatory in explosive atmospheres. Both ducts share the same 12" diameter but are not interchangeable in explosive environments.
