The Allegro galvanized steel connector is the essential joining piece for assembling two flexible ventilation ducts in a confined space ventilation system. Built for demanding job sites, it allows extending a duct network without significant airflow loss and without risk of unexpected disconnection. Its raised lip grips and securely holds flexible duct ends without requiring special tools, facilitating rapid installation or disassembly in the field. Standard length is 10" / 25.4 cm. Available in 8" / 20.3 cm (Allegro code: 9500-01) and 12" / 30.4 cm (Allegro code: 9550-01) diameters. Other diameters may be available upon special request — contact customer service for details. Please select your diameter from the menu above.
The connector is manufactured from industrial-grade galvanized steel, a robust material that resists corrosion, impacts, and the wet environments frequently encountered on job sites and in confined spaces such as sewer manholes, tanks, and underground utility vaults. Hot-dip galvanizing protects the steel across its entire surface, ensuring a long service life even when the connector is exposed to moisture or condensation.
The raised-lip design allows flexible duct ends to be slid in and locked within seconds. On a job site where time matters, this straightforward assembly reduces downtime and allows reconfiguring the ventilation network mid-operation if the confined space geometry requires it.
By joining two ducts of the same diameter with the RACONN connector, significant distances inside a confined space can be reached while maintaining sufficient airflow. This is particularly useful when total ventilation length exceeds the length of any single available duct (15 ft or 25 ft).
The RACONN-12 connector is also compatible with the antistatic explosion-proof duct RA9550X. In that case, it is mandatory to connect the ground wire from each duct to the nearest end of the connector in order to maintain electrical continuity throughout the ventilation chain.
To choose the right connector, select the diameter matching your ventilation ducts: the RACONN-8 connector (Allegro code 9500-01) is intended for RA9500 8" ducts, while the RACONN-12 connector (Allegro code 9550-01) is intended for RA9550 or RA9550X 12" ducts. The connector is placed between two ducts by inserting each duct end into the connector until it seats against the raised lip.
In an explosion-proof configuration with the RA9550X duct, the ground wire present at each duct end must be connected to the grounding bolt on the side of the blower chassis, and the same continuity must be ensured for any duct extension. Refer to the grounding section of the RA9550X product sheet for complete instructions.
Yes. The RACONN-12 connector is compatible with the antistatic explosion-proof duct RA9550X. When used in this context, it is essential to connect the ground wires from the ducts to both ends of the connector to maintain electrical continuity and preserve the explosion-proof protection of the entire installation.
No. The RACONN connector is designed to join two ducts of the same diameter. An 8" connector cannot fit a 12" duct, and vice versa. For projects requiring a diameter change, contact customer service to explore available solutions.
To go from a 15 ft duct to a total length of 40 ft, you will need an additional 25 ft duct and one (1) RACONN connector of the appropriate diameter. The connector joins the two ducts: the existing 15 ft duct and the new 25 ft duct. That gives 15 + 25 = 40 ft of total ventilation with a single junction point.
To complete your installation with the RACONN connector, the 8" flexible duct (RA9500) pairs with the RACONN-8, and the 12" flexible duct (RA9550) pairs with the RACONN-12. The 12" polyethylene shell axial blower (RA9539-12) is the reference blower for 12" ducts.
The 50 ft weatherproof 15 A extension cord (RA9540-50) extends the blower's power supply. The Altair 4X 4-gas detector (DETEC4GC) monitors the atmosphere, the manhole barrier (EPTBB) secures the perimeter, and the Peakworks 6 D-ring confined space harness (FPH2000APLE) protects the worker during descent, stored in a carry bag (FPBAG).
