Class 0 defines the protection category for insulating gloves used by electrical workers. These gloves are rated for a maximum voltage of 1000 V AC or 1500 V DC. They must be tested every six months to ensure integrity.
ASTM D120 and EN 60903 are international standards that specify requirements and testing methods for insulating gloves.
ASTM D120 is published by the American Society for Testing and Materials. It specifies dimensions, physical properties, markings, dielectric tests, and puncture resistance.
EN 60903 is published by CENELEC, the European Committee for Electrotechnical Standardization. It outlines manufacturing conditions and mechanical, dielectric, aging, and chemical resistance testing.
For added protection, we recommend safety goggles (YA12261) to shield your eyes from sparks, arcs, or flammable projections. Also consider non-conductive, flame-resistant clothing to prevent burns or injuries from fire or explosions.
You'll find a whole range of flame-retardant products on our Sylprotec site, like our cargo-cut pants (V7764), our orange (V1765) or blue 100% flame-retardant coveralls (V1766), our Nomex welder's cap (V308), the FR-TECH flame-retardant safety shirt (V129), our orange long-sleeved flame-retardant jerseys (V339) or its black equivalent (V340). In addition, depending on the nature of your work, you may need our blue type 5 and 6 disposable flame-retardant coveralls (V50), the flame-retardant double-layer neck warmer (V313); a 61 cm X 91 cm split-leather bib apron (VT1288).
Choose your glove size from the drop-down menu. The gloves should fit your hand snugly but not tightly. Proper fit ensures an effective insulating barrier and reduces risk of short circuits.
After use, store gloves in a dry, clean, shaded location away from light, heat, and chemicals. Inspect visually before each use. Test them regularly in accordance with ASTM D120 and EN 60903 to confirm dielectric strength.
These gloves protect up to 1000 V AC and 1500 V DC.
It’s recommended to test every six months to ensure continued electrical resistance.
Yes, but they must be kept dry and inspected before and after each use to maintain performance.
