The Protecta 3M D-ring extension (model 1385000C) adds 45 cm (1.5 ft) to the dorsal D-ring of a safety harness or an overhead anchor point. By bringing the connection point closer, it makes it easier for the worker to clip on the fall arrest device, especially when the dorsal ring is hard to reach. Sold individually.
Its abrasion-resistant polyester webbing features a self-locking, easy-to-use carabiner at one end and a high-strength D-ring attachment point at the other. Its visible webbing makes the visual inspection required before each use easier.

Use and inspection of the extension
The extension attaches to the harness dorsal D-ring; the fall arrest device then connects to the self-locking carabiner. It must not be used to increase free fall length beyond what the fall arrest system allows: always account for the fall clearance distance. Before each use, inspect the webbing, stitching, carabiner and D-ring; remove the extension from service at the first sign of wear, cut or failure.
