Showa Waterproof Polyurethane Gloves With Fleece Lining.

Available sizes: 8 (M) to 11 (2XL) select your size from the menu above.

Showa 282 gloves combine a thin, flexible structure with effective insulation. Their soft acrylic fleece lining retains heat, while the seamless nylon exterior prevents irritation during prolonged wear.

The gloves are finished with a rough nitrile coating on the fingers and palm, providing excellent grip in dry or wet conditions, even when handling cold, wet, or slippery objects.

They measure between 275 and 300 mm depending on the size chosen, and feature an easy-to-identify blue color on the job site.

The glove remains flexible down to -50°C, making it a reliable choice for extreme winter environments.

Showa glove materials and construction

  • Fixed insulated acrylic (warm fleece lining)
  • Seamless nylon (increased comfort and reduced irritation)
  • Polyurethane coating (waterproof, breathable, comfortable)
  • Rough nitrile on fingertips and palm (improved grip and tactile precision)

This unique combination results in a warm, waterproof, breathable, and high-performance glove, despite its thinness.

Compliance and performance of waterproof polyurethane gloves

Showa 282 gloves comply with food standards and several European standards equivalent to North American standards.

EN 388: 2016 standards — Classification 4221X

  • Abrasion: level 4 (maximum)
  • Cut: level 2
  • Tear: Level 2
  • Puncture: Level 1

EN 511: 2006 — Rating 021

  • Convective cold resistance: 0
  • Contact cold resistance: 2/4
  • Water impermeability: 1/1

These results demonstrate excellent performance against abrasion, cold contact, and water.

Restrictions on Showa blue waterproof gloves

Polyurethane-coated gloves have low heat resistance. They should not be used in high-temperature environments or in the presence of flames.

FAQ: Showa waterproof and fleece gloves

1. Are these gloves really both waterproof and breathable?

Yes. Showa 282 gloves use TEMRES® technology, developed by Showa, which combines total waterproofing with water vapor permeability. This means your hands stay dry in wet and humid conditions, while preventing sweat from building up inside the glove.

2. What do the codes 4221X (EN 388) and 021 (EN 511) on these gloves mean?

The code 4221X corresponds to the EN 388:2016 standard (mechanical risks). Each number represents a performance level:

  • 4: maximum abrasion resistance
  • 2: adequate cut resistance
  • 2: adequate tear resistance
  • 1: basic puncture resistance
  • X: additional tests not performed or not applicable

Code 021 of standard EN 511:2006 indicates:

  • 0: no specific performance against convective cold
  • 2: good resistance to contact cold
  • 1: waterproof glove

3. Can I use these gloves for food handling?

Yes, these gloves comply with food standards, which means they can be used for handling certain foods in work environments (refrigeration, handling fresh produce, etc.), subject to applicable local regulations.

In general, nitrile gloves and certain polyurethane coatings are commonly used in the food industry because they are considered safe for food contact when certified (FDA, CFIA, etc.).
