The X2 removable cable sleeve Lad-Saf DBI-SALA 3M is the mobile link of the Lad-Saf vertical cable safety system: it follows the worker while climbing a fixed ladder or tower and instantly arrests a fall. Its versatility is its strength: it is compatible with 9.5 mm (3/8 in) AND 8 mm (5/16 in) cables, solid core 1x7 or 7x19. Made from corrosion-resistant stainless steel and fitted with a high-strength Saflok carabiner, it integrates an energy absorber and a fall indicator. Capacity of 310 lb (141 kg), one user.
Unlike single-diameter sleeves, the X2 accepts Lad-Saf cables of 9.5 mm (3/8 in) and 8 mm (5/16 in), solid core 1x7 or 7x19. This flexibility makes it a versatile sleeve for various vertical Lad-Saf installations, a single sleeve covering two cable sizes.
The X2 sleeve integrates an energy absorber that reduces the fall-arrest forces transmitted to the worker to 6 kN (1,350 lb) or less. A visible fall indicator immediately shows whether the sleeve has undergone a fall arrest, requiring its removal from service. Its stainless steel construction provides excellent corrosion resistance, even in abrasive and humid environments.
The X2 automatically follows the user during ascent and descent, with minimal handling, for continuous fall protection. Its independent dual locking system offers two means of protection: it stays locked until footing is regained. The sleeve installs and detaches anywhere along the Lad-Saf vertical lifeline, making it easy to enter and exit the system.
This sleeve is designed for the Lad-Saf vertical cable safety system. It features a 3M connected Safety ID that supports inspection traceability. To operate, it must be paired with the Lad-Saf system components: cable, guides and counterweight.
The X2 sleeve is designed for vertical access on straight fixed ladders, towers and structures at height. It suits general industry, utilities, oil and gas, transport and wind energy, wherever a worker must climb safely along a vertical cable.
Inspect the sleeve before each use. Remove it from service if the fall indicator is triggered or in case of corrosion, cracking or wear. Any repair must be performed by 3M DBI-SALA or an authorized competent person. Keep the sleeve clean and dry between uses to preserve its mechanism.
It accepts Lad-Saf cables of 9.5 mm (3/8 in) and 8 mm (5/16 in), solid core 1x7 or 7x19.
One user at a time, with a maximum weight of 310 lb (141 kg) including equipment.
The X2 accepts two cable diameters (9.5 and 8 mm), while the X3 is designed for 9.5 mm cable. Both offer the energy absorber, fall indicator and dual locking.
Remove it from service if the fall indicator is triggered, or in case of corrosion, cracking or wear. Repair must be done by 3M DBI-SALA or a competent person.
