The Lad-Saf DBI-SALA 3M end-of-line cable guide is a bypassable guide designed for Lad-Saf flexible cable vertical safety systems installed on a fixed straight ladder. It keeps the steel cable aligned along the climbing zone and limits its sway. Its non-metallic rubber contact area prevents metal-on-metal contact, protecting the cable from wear. Its steel mounting hardware, galvanized or stainless, is rugged and corrosion resistant, for a quick, easy and safe installation.
This guide bolts onto a rung of the straight ladder. It is part of a modular system: the top bracket, bottom bracket, cable guide supports, cable and sleeve are ordered separately. The complete system can span up to 61 m (200 ft), serve up to 4 workers and offers a 141 kg (310 lb) capacity per user.
Available in two types of steel: galvanized (6100515) and stainless steel (6100505). Select the steel type you need from the drop-down menu.
On a cable vertical safety system, cable guides keep the lifeline aligned along the ladder and limit cable sway. They are spaced along the line per the 3M manufacturer instructions. The end-of-line cable guide performs this function on fixed straight ladders. Its non-metallic rubber contact area protects the steel cable from wear.
The guide bolts onto a rung of the straight ladder, never onto an improvised structure. The exact system configuration (number of guides based on height, brackets, cable length) must be validated with a competent person and per the 3M manufacturer instructions.
Before each use, inspect the guide, its mounting bracket, the bolt and the non-metallic contact area. A formal inspection by a competent person other than the user is required at least once a year, per the 3M manufacturer instructions and applicable provincial regulations.
Clean the guide with water and mild soap, then let it air dry. Protect the hardware from prolonged moisture and store it in a clean, dry place to preserve its corrosion resistance. Do not modify the guide or its bracket. Follow the 3M user manual instructions for maintenance frequency and method.
The 6100515 has galvanized steel mounting hardware for common installations; the 6100505 is stainless steel for corrosive environments. The function is identical.

The maintenance technician climbs caged ladders on vertical installations, protected by a vertical fall arrest system. A wrong move or unsuitable equipment is enough to turn a routine climb into a serious fall. On this type of job site, he wears his full personal protective equipment: a Class L sternal-D-ring safety harness (FPH114018XCALP) that keeps him facing the ladder, cut-resistant gloves (GS13TAGPU), safety glasses (YA12E91001), a protective helmet (TA14OR) held by its chin strap (TA80CS), a high-visibility garment (V5999FP) and hearing protection, disposable earplugs (OA1101).
