Arc Flash Self-Retracting Lifeline Nano-Lok DBI-SALA 8 ft Kevlar

Nano-Lok™ DBI-SALA® 3M personal self-retracting lifeline (SRL), 8 ft (2.4 m) long. Designed for workers exposed to electrical arc flash hazards while working at height. The fire-resistant webbing is made of Kevlar® fiber, a material recognized for its resistance to intense heat. Made to order by 3M. Please allow approximately 1 month for delivery.

3M purchase code: 7012818701, model: 3101547.
This product complies with ANSI Z359.14 and CSA Z259.2.2.

Arcing occurs when electricity passes through the air between two points of charge. When an arc occurs, it is attracted to metal parts of harnesses, such as the back D-ring and attachment loops, which can result in burns and serious injury to the worker. The Kevlar® webbing complies with ASTM F887 standard and withstands these extreme conditions.

By using a self-retracting lifeline along with other protective equipment featuring Arc Flash protection, workers can work safely in high-risk electrical environments while benefiting from reliable and durable protective equipment.

This model is not designed for horizontal applications. It can only be used with vertical anchor points. As a result, it does not protect against sharp leading edges. This lifeline features a high-capacity external energy absorber with fall indicator. It integrates IRF (i-Safe) technology compatible with inventory management systems.

Webbing specifications:

Material: Fire-resistant Kevlar® fiber
Length: 8 ft (2.4 m)

This personal fall arrester attaches directly to the back of the harness via its integrated connector. Its speed-sensing locking mechanism arrests a fall within inches. The swivel anchor loop prevents the webbing from twisting during movement. The aluminum and zinc-plated steel carabiners are self-locking and release with a double action.

This personal fall limiter can support a worker weighing up to 420 lb (190 kg), including clothing, tools and equipment.

During a fall, the stopping distance varies depending on the anchor arrangement. Its braking mechanism combined with the external energy absorber limits the forces exerted on the falling worker. Once the webbing is deployed, the overload indicator will appear. Refer to the manufacturer's manual for stopping distances and forces specific to this model.

The housing is made of durable and lightweight thermoplastic. Designed for direct attachment to the back of the harness, it provides maximum freedom of movement. It features an integrated swivel anchor loop that prevents the webbing from twisting. Total weight: 3.6 lb.

The webbing of this self-retracting lifeline is made of Kevlar® fiber, a high-performance synthetic material developed by DuPont. Kevlar provides exceptional mechanical resistance to friction and abrasion, while withstanding high temperatures without degrading. Unlike standard polyester webbing which can ignite during an electric arc, Kevlar fiber resists the intense heat generated by such incidents. This is why this SRL is specifically recommended for work near energized equipment.

About the anchor point and fall clearance distance

The anchor point must always be located above the level of the dorsal D-ring of the harness and positioned vertically relative to the user. The worker should remain below the anchor point within a perimeter forming no more than a 30-degree angle.

This lifeline cannot be used in a horizontal configuration where the anchor point is below the dorsal D-ring. It is not designed to protect against sharp leading edges. The anchor point must be capable of withstanding a force of 5,000 lb. For more information, consult the manufacturer's manual.

Arc Flash Self-Retracting Lifeline Inspection

The worker is responsible for performing a routine inspection before each use. During this routine inspection, the worker must look for any signs of deterioration, wear, malfunction, or damage. Replace your equipment at the slightest sign of failure.

In addition, this retractable should be inspected by a qualified person other than the worker. The required frequency of these inspections varies by manufacturer. Some recommend every 90 days, others every 180 days, or annually.

The recommended service life of a self-retracting lifeline is 5 years. Sylprotec offers an inspection service for lanyards and safety harnesses. Learn more by visiting the Service tab on our website.

Any equipment subjected to a fall or impact must be taken out of service.

Maintenance and Cleaning of the Kevlar Nano-Lok Lifeline

For cleaning, use mild soap and warm water (37°C / 98°F). Do not use bleach or other abrasive or chemical products. If your self-retracting lifeline is too dirty or contaminated, it is time to replace it.

Air dry away from excessive heat in a clean environment. The self-retracting lifeline must be fully retracted into the device when not in use.

FAQ : Nano-Lok Arc Flash Self-Retracting Lifeline DBI-SALA FPLR3101547

What distinguishes an Arc Flash SRL from a standard lifeline?

The Kevlar® fiber webbing resists the intense heat generated by an electric arc. Unlike standard polyester webbing which can ignite, Kevlar protects the worker even during an electrical incident. This webbing complies with ASTM F887.

Can this lifeline be used horizontally?

No - it is designed only for vertical anchors, above the dorsal D-ring of the harness. It does not protect against sharp leading edges. Consult the manufacturer's manual for configuration details.

What should be done after the fall indicator is triggered?

Take the equipment out of service immediately and contact a qualified technician. Never reuse without thorough inspection. Any equipment subjected to a fall or impact must be removed from service.

Complementary suggestions : compatible fall protection equipment FPLR3101547

For working at height in an electrical environment, you'll need an arc flash compatible harness: the harness ExoFit X300 Class A crossover (FPH1403198C) or the harness ExoFit X300 Class A vest style (FPH11401C) for full chest protection. Add safety glasses SecureFit 400 (YASF401BG) to protect your eyes from debris and earplugs EARsoft (OA1250) against ambient noise on site. Under "Accessories" at the bottom of this page.

To round out your work-at-height kit, the gloves mechanic high-visibility (GMXVSB) protect your hands during handling and the bag Peakworks (FPBAG) keeps your fall protection equipment clean, stored and ready for inspection between uses.
