The Miller TurboLite self-retracting lanyard is an ultra-light personal fall limiter equipped with a SofStop energy absorber. Its webbing is polyester with a Vectran core, a material highly resistant to abrasion and harsh environmental conditions. With a length of 6 ft (1.83 m), it retracts automatically and reduces the arrest distance compared with a conventional lanyard.
Miller product code: MFL-12-Z7/6FT. This product complies with ANSI Z359.14 Class A & B, ANSI A10.32 and CSA Z259.2.2. Webbing dimensions: thickness 1/16 in (1.5 mm), width 1 in (25.4 mm), length 6 ft (1.83 m). The maximum free-fall distance is 2 ft (0.61 m).
This self-retracting lanyard is fitted with two carabiners: a scaffold hook with a 2½ in (63.5 mm) opening and a semi-automatic carabiner (swivel gate) with a 1 in (25.4 mm) opening. Both are self-locking with double action. With a vertical anchorage, this limiter can support a worker weighing 310 to 400 lb (140 to 181 kg), including clothing, tools and equipment. When the anchorage is horizontal, the maximum weight varies with the distance between the dorsal D-ring and the anchorage height (see Miller technical bulletin).
Availability: end of line — limited quantity (3 units left at the time of writing).
This ultra-light fall limiter offers great freedom of movement and a reduced arrest distance, ideal for extended use.
The anchorage point should preferably be located above the harness dorsal D-ring. With a horizontal anchorage, the maximum worker weight varies with the distance between the dorsal D-ring and the anchorage height; consult the Miller technical bulletin. The user must assess the fall distance, the clearance below the worker and the anchorage strength (5000 lb).
The worker is responsible for performing a routine inspection before each use. The worker must check the retraction and locking of the webbing, the fall indicator, the carabiners, and note any sign of degradation, wear or breakage. Replace the equipment at the first sign of failure. This fall limiter should also be inspected periodically by a qualified person other than the worker, according to the manufacturer's conditions. Any equipment that has withstood a fall or an impact must be taken out of service. Sylprotec offers a fall protection inspection service; to learn more, see the Services tab.
For cleaning, use a mild soap and lukewarm water (37 °C). Do not use bleach or abrasive or chemical products. Keep the mechanism clean and dry. Air dry, without excessive heat, in a clean environment. Avoid prolonged exposure to sunlight and to any source of contamination.
SofStop is Miller's energy-absorbing system built into the TurboLite; it reduces the arrest force experienced by the worker during a fall while keeping a compact, lightweight format.
It supports a worker from 310 to 400 lb (140 to 181 kg) depending on the anchorage; horizontally, the limit depends on the geometry (see Miller technical bulletin).
This is an end-of-line item, in limited quantity. Contact Sylprotec to confirm availability before ordering.
To complete your fall protection, also consider a self-locking carabiner (FPAM88), an anchorage sling (FPAE), a fixed anchorage point (FPA822), a concrete connector (FPAF075N), a Koala harness with quick buckles (FPH02474A), a Koala harness with grommets (FPH33102A), a Koala harness with pass-thru buckles (FPH33101A) and a storage bag (FPBAG).
