Nano-Lok™ DBI-SALA® 3M twin-leg self-retracting lifeline (SRL) for leading edge applications, 8 ft (2.4 m) per leg. Designed for work at height on unprotected leading edges (roofs, steel structures, beams). The galvanized cable withstands sharp cutting edges. The twin-leg design allows continuous progression without disconnecting from the anchor.
3M purchase code: 7012819207, model: 3500250.
This product complies with ANSI Z359.14 Class 2 for leading edge applications.
Unprotected leading edges represent a major hazard: webbing can be cut during a fall if the equipment is not designed for this use. The galvanized cable resists this type of stress. The twin-leg configuration ensures continuous protection during movement on unsecured surfaces.
The twin-leg design allows transitioning between anchor points without interrupting fall protection. Each leg features a quick connector for direct harness attachment. Speed-sensing locking arrests a fall within inches.
Lifeline specifications:
Material: Galvanized cable
Length per leg: 8 ft (2.4 m)
Color: Orange
This personal fall arrester supports a worker weighing up to 310 lb (141 kg), including clothing, tools and equipment.
During a fall, stopping distance varies by anchor arrangement. The high-capacity external energy absorber limits forces on the falling worker. Once deployed, the overload indicator appears. Refer to the manufacturer's manual for stopping distances specific to this model.
Housing is durable lightweight thermoplastic nylon with integrated quick connector. Total weight: 9.35 lb (4.24 kg). Integrates IRF (i-Safe) technology.
The cable of this self-retracting lifeline is made of galvanized steel, a zinc-treated metal material designed to resist corrosion. Unlike textile webbing (polyester, Kevlar), a steel cable cannot be severed by a sharp steel edge during a fall. This is the fundamental property that makes it essential for Leading Edge applications, where the lanyard may contact a roofing edge, beam, or structural metal angle. Galvanization also ensures extended longevity in outdoor environments exposed to moisture.
The anchor point must always be above the dorsal D-ring of the harness and positioned vertically relative to the user. The worker should remain below the anchor within a 30-degree angle.
This model is designed for leading edge applications. The galvanized cable withstands unprotected sharp edges. The anchor must withstand 5,000 lb. Consult the manufacturer's manual for full details.

Perform a routine inspection before each use. Look for signs of deterioration, wear, or damage. Replace at the slightest sign of failure. A qualified person must inspect periodically (every 90 or 180 days, or annually). Recommended service life: 5 years. Visit the Service tab for Sylprotec inspection services.
Any equipment subjected to a fall or impact must be taken out of service.
Clean with mild soap and warm water (37°C). No bleach or abrasives. Air dry. Fully retract when not in use.
The twin-leg design ensures continuous attachment when moving across a roof or structure. When transitioning between anchor points, one leg always stays attached for uninterrupted fall protection.
Yes, polyester webbing can be severed by a sharp steel edge during a fall. Galvanized cable resists this. This model is rated ANSI Z359.14 Class 2 specifically for leading edge use.
Yes, the Nano-Lok Leading Edge works in standard applications too. Its higher weight (9.35 lb) is the main trade-off. In environments without sharp edges, a lighter model may be preferable.
For work on unprotected leading edges, pair this lifeline with a harness designed for climbing and positioning: the harness ExoFit X300 Class APL (FPH1403204C) with sternal and hip rings, or the harness ExoFit X300 Class APL (FPH1403016C) for maximum mobility on rooftops. Add safety glasses SecureFit 400 (YASF401BG) to protect your eyes from debris and earplugs EARsoft (OA1250) to reduce noise exposure on roofing sites. Under "Accessories" at the bottom of this page.
For full hand protection when handling sharp materials at height, the gloves Dyneema PU A4 cut-resistant (GS13SXGPU) provide high cut resistance, and the bag Peakworks (FPBAG) protects your fall protection equipment between uses.
