Peakworks 10 ft leading-edge self-retracting lifeline with galvanized steel cable

The Peakworks leading-edge self-retracting lifeline (LE SRL) is a personal fall limiter equipped with an external energy absorber, with a length of 10 ft (3 m). Unlike webbing models, it uses a 0.22 in (5.5 mm) galvanized steel cable, highly abrasion-resistant, making it suitable for leading-edge applications and demanding environments.

Peakworks product code: V845633010LE, model SRL-73302-10LE. This lifeline complies with ANSI Z359.14-2014 Class B and CSA Z259.2.2-2017. Designed for leading-edge (LE) applications, it protects against sharp edges according to the manual's conditions of use.

It is fitted with two carabiners, namely a swivel carabiner and a standard carabiner, self-locking with double action. With a vertical anchorage, this fall limiter can support a worker weighing 310 lb (140 kg), including clothing, tools and equipment. The arrest distance varies with the anchorage layout; consult the manufacturer's manual for the required clearance.

Advantages of the Peakworks self-retracting lifeline

This steel-cable LE SRL offers maximum durability and a reduced arrest distance for leading-edge applications.

Job sites and industries where this lifeline is required

  • Construction and work at heights, including leading-edge applications
  • Roofing work and areas near sharp edges
  • Scaffolding and framing work
  • Industrial maintenance and building mechanics
  • Abrasive environments and leading-edge applications

About the anchorage point

The anchorage point must be positioned according to the manufacturer's instructions for leading-edge applications. The user must assess the fall distance, the clearance below the worker and the anchorage strength (5000 lb). The steel cable resists abrasion better than webbing in harsh environments. For more information, consult the manufacturer's manual.

Self-retracting lifeline inspection

The worker is responsible for performing a routine inspection before each use. The worker must check the retraction and locking of the webbing, the fall indicator, the carabiners, and note any sign of degradation, wear or breakage. Replace the equipment at the first sign of failure. This SRL should also be inspected periodically by a qualified person other than the worker, according to the manufacturer's frequency and conditions. Any equipment that has withstood a fall or an impact must be taken out of service. Sylprotec offers a fall protection inspection service; to learn more, see the Services tab.

Self-retracting lifeline maintenance

For cleaning, use a mild soap and lukewarm water (37 °C). Do not use bleach or abrasive or chemical products. Keep the mechanism clean and dry. Air dry, without excessive heat, in a clean environment. Avoid prolonged exposure to sunlight and to any source of contamination.

FAQ about the Peakworks self-retracting lifeline

Why a steel cable rather than webbing?

The galvanized steel cable resists abrasion and harsh conditions better, extending the lifespan in demanding environments and near edges.

What is a "Leading Edge" (LE) lifeline?

An LE lifeline is designed to withstand abrasion over a sharp edge during a leading-edge fall, where the webbing or cable could run over a cutting edge. Follow the manufacturer's conditions of use.

What is the capacity of this lifeline?

It supports a worker with a total weight of 310 lb (140 kg), including clothing, tools and equipment, with a vertical anchorage.
