HEPA air purifier for asbestos removal and mold remediation

The Bulldog® portable air purifier is a high-performance negative air machine built for asbestos abatement, mold remediation, and lead decontamination. With a airflow of 1300 or 2000 cfm and a true 99.97% HEPA filter, it meets strict safety standards. A mandatory DOP test ensures the integrity of the HEPA filter, making this unit ideal for regulated environments.

 Abatement Technologies manufacturer’s code: BD2KM

This air scrubber has three different modes: negative pressure mode, positive pressure mode, recirculation mode. The speed switch on the panel allows you to set the flow rate to 1300 or 2000. cfm (ft³/min).

It is equipped with three different filters which overlaps one another accordingly to a given order. The air scrubber comes with one set of filters, that is, a primary filter, an accordion-shaped secondary filter and a HEPA filter. It is now possible to replace the secondary filter by another secondary filter of activated coal for protection from organic vapours in low concentrations. This type of filter is particularly useful when it comes to mold decontamination work.

  •  The primary filter (SAHFP) (24 in X 24 in X 1 in) captures bigger particles the size of 10 µm and more.
  • The secondary filter (SAHFS) (24 in X 24 in X 2 in) captures particles the size of 3 µm to 10 µm.
  • The HEPA filter (SAHF) (24 in X 24 in X 6 in) captures smaller particles the size of 0.3 µm and more with 99.97% efficiency.
  •  In option, a secondary filter (SAHFSOV) of activated coal for protection from organic vapours in low concentrations (24 in X 24 in X 2 in) which also captures particles the size of 3 µm to 10 µm.

This air scrubber is certified UL94HB to comply with flammability requirements set by the responsible authorities. This air scrubber is certified ETL and meets CSA requirements as for safety standards. This equipment minimal power supply requirement is 120V/60 Hz. Its normal operating amps is 8 A. The polymer cabinet features a 12 in diameter airflow outtake which allows the connexion of the outlet pipe. A panel opens on the front to allow a convenient filter change.

This machine weighs a total of 120 lb (54.55 kg) which is why it features two fixed and two locking 4 in diameter swivel casters. It also has four handles firmly anchored at the bottom of the device.

The ultimate solution for asbestos and mold remediation.

High-efficiency air purification for critical worksites:

Manufactured by Abatement Technologies, the Bulldog® BD2KM model is engineered for demanding remediation tasks. It operates in negative pressure, positive pressure, or recirculation mode, adapting to various site conditions. Its powerful motor and custom-designed blower deliver consistent airflow, while the three-stage filtration system—including a certified HEPA filter—captures particles as small as 0.3 microns with 99.97% efficiency.

For more information, please consult the manufacturer’s manual available at the bottom of the page.

Key features of the Bulldog® air purifier:

This professional-grade air purifier includes a primary filter for large particles, a secondary accordion-style filter, and a HEPA filter for fine particulates. An optional activated carbon filter is available for low-concentration organic vapors. The flame-retardant polymer cabinet (UL94HB) is leak-tight and durable, equipped with swivel casters and reinforced handles for easy mobility. Certified to UL and CSA standards, it runs on 120V/60Hz with a maximum draw of 8 amps.

Easy installation on remediation sites:

Installing the Bulldog® air purifier is straightforward. Position the unit in the containment area, connect the 12-inch exhaust duct, and select the desired operating mode. The control panel allows you to adjust the airflow speed. A DOP (dispersed oil particulate) test is mandatory before starting work, each time the unit is moved, and every four weeks if stationary. Performing the DOP test on-site is strongly recommended to verify the HEPA filter’s integrity and ensure no leakage through the filter media, frame, or seals. This model is stackable.

Maintenance guidelines for long-term performance:

Routine maintenance is essential to preserve filtration efficiency. The front-access cabinet allows quick filter replacement. The DOP test confirms that the HEPA filter retains aerosol droplets at 0.3 microns without bypass. Certified filters carry a label indicating compliance. Contact customer service for scheduling DOP tests; regional travel may incur additional fees.

Usage tips and airflow calculation for proper deployment SAH4:

To maintain effective negative pressure, calculate the number of air purifiers needed based on room volume and airflow requirements. Use this formula:

Volume (ft³) = length × width × height Required air changes = 4 per hour (Quebec standard) Cfm rating of purifier = 1300 or 2000 Purifiers needed = volume ÷ (15 min × cfm) Round up to the nearest whole number

Example: At 1300 cfm for a 20,000 ft³ space → 20,000 ÷ (15 × 1300) = 1.02 → 2 units recommended At 2000 cfm → 20,000 ÷ (15 × 2000) = 0.66 → 1 unit recommended

Please note that if you need to change the air 6 times per hour, you should change the 15 min setting to 10 min.

These calculations assume ideal conditions. In practice, account for air leaks, door openings, power fluctuations, duct length, and filter saturation. For optimal safety, consider using a higher cfm unit or multiple purifiers.

FAQ: Bulldog® air purifier and HEPA filter certification

When is the DOP test required for the Bulldog® air purifier?

Before starting work, after relocating the unit, and every four weeks if it remains stationary.

How do I calculate how many air purifiers I need?

Divide the room volume by (15 minutes × cfm rating). Always round up to ensure adequate airflow. For locations that require 4 changes per hour.

Is the Bulldog® certified for asbestos and mold remediation?

Yes, it meets UL and CSA standards. The HEPA filter is certified after passing the DOP test.
