This combo emergency lighting unit brings together a "Sortie" sign and 2 LED spotlights, battery included, in a slim casing that fits most installations. Made by AimLite (model CSST-2L) and compliant with CSA 22.2 No. 141 and C860, it keeps the "Sortie" sign permanently lit ; during a failure, the two spotlights switch on automatically to light the evacuation path while the sign stays illuminated.
The two adjustable PAR18 LED spotlights draw only 2 W each and emit ultra-bright white light, while the backlit "Sortie" sign uses 2 W. LEDs are far less energy-hungry than traditional incandescent bulbs.
The unit requires a permanent 120 V or 347 V AC supply (voltage chosen at installation). It contains a connected 6 V 5 Ah battery (LB65) ; during a failure, the 6 V 36 W unit powers the lighting for 30 minutes as required by law (up to 4 hours with power loss). The unit can also power other remote signs or spotlights. The circuit board is protected against voltage drops and short circuits.
The casing is 20-gauge steel coated with white powder paint, with universal distribution holes and keyhole slots. The unit installs three ways : flat wall, perpendicular wall or ceiling (positioning plate included). The "Sortie" faceplate has pre-cut directional arrows to punch out as needed. The spotlights are made of impact-resistant thermoplastic. A side switch tests the unit, and LED indicators show AC power and battery charging.
Exit signs are required in most buildings that host the public or workers :
