This illuminated sign displays the green "running man" pictogram that indicates an emergency exit in accordance with current standards. Lit by LED and housed in a light white thermoplastic casing, it includes an internal back-up battery that takes over during a power failure. It is a lightweight, easy-to-install solution to clearly mark a building's emergency exits.
The thermoplastic casing was chosen for its light weight : it makes wall or ceiling installation easier while withstanding normal indoor use. The sign is made by Aimlite (manufacturer code RPNPUWHT-BAT) and runs on a continuous 120 V or 347 V AC supply.
This sign complies with the international standards ISO 7010:2011 and ISO 3864-1:2011 (graphic symbols, safety colours and signs), and is certified to the Canadian standards CSA 22.2 No. 141-15 (emergency lighting equipment) and CSA C860 (performance of internally illuminated exit signs). The green "running man" pictogram was adopted in the National Building Code of Canada in 2010 ; the 2015 version (article 3.4.5.1) requires it, and it replaces the traditional red EXIT signs.
The sign includes a sealed nickel-cadmium internal battery that keeps the lighting on for 90 minutes during a power failure. The battery is designed to operate between 10 °C and 35 °C. The sign draws 4.1 W at 120 V and 3.6 W at 347 V, and includes a test button and a side indicator light.
The sign sets up single-face for wall mounting, or double-face for side or ceiling mounting. It comes with three interchangeable pictograms (pictogram only, right arrow, left arrow). Use the pictogram only above the exit or in a corridor leading to it ; use the arrows to indicate the evacuation direction in a corner or intersection. For indoor use in a dry environment only : do not use outdoors or in a humid environment.
Sign dimensions : 13 5/8 in W × 9 13/16 in H × 2 3/16 in D (35 × 25 × 5.6 cm). Illuminated pictogram : 11 13/16 in × 6 in (30 × 15 cm).
Exit signs are required in most buildings that host the public or workers :
The internal battery keeps the lighting on for 90 minutes after a power outage.
The green "running man" pictogram has been required by the National Building Code since 2010 and replaces the old red EXIT signs.
No, it is designed for indoor use in a dry environment only.
