Heavy-Duty Black Plastic Hose Belt for Amerex Class D Extinguishers

This heavy-duty hose belt is a specialized accessory specifically engineered for Amerex Class D fire extinguishers. Unlike standard elastic bands, this model is made from rigid, high-strength plastic to support the unique requirements of extinguishers used for combustible metal fires.

This extinguisher hose strap is compatible with the EXD570 (Amerex Model 570 with sodium chloride) and the EXD571 (Amerex Model 571 with copper powder) metal fire extinguishers. Please note these extinguishers require two hose straps to properly secure the hose and the nozzle. The strap is adjustable with a metal screw.

Why use a hose strap?
A hose strap safely secures the extinguisher hose to the extinguisher body. This helps protect the hose against accidental bumps and snags, and increases its service life.

How to install the hose strap?
Place hose strap around the fire extinguisher. Adjust strap by tightening it until it is snug against the extinguisher. Cut excess strap length, then place hose into clip.
T
he hose strap must be tightly secured to the extinguisher, so that it won’t move or slip. Otherwise, the hose might become stuck in the strap when you need to use the extinguisher. We recommend performing a test before cutting the excess strap length.

Why Choose This Specialized Hose Belt?

  • Custom Design for Class D: Specifically shaped and sized to fit the large cylinders and specialized discharge assemblies of Amerex Class D units.

  • Heavy-Duty Plastic Construction: Offers superior durability compared to elastic, ensuring the hose remains locked in place even in harsh industrial environments where chemicals or extreme heat might degrade rubber.

  • Secure Hose Management: Effectively prevents the discharge hose from becoming loose, which is critical for Class D units that are often heavier and more cumbersome to maneuver.

  • OEM Compatibility: Guaranteed to fit Amerex models perfectly, maintaining the professional appearance and functional integrity of your safety equipment.

Technical Specifications

  • Material: High-impact, heavy-duty black plastic.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Can I use this plastic belt on a standard 10 lb ABC extinguisher?

No, this belt is specifically molded for the larger diameter and specific hardware of Amerex Class D extinguishers. For standard ABC units, a flexible elastic belt is the appropriate choice.

Is the plastic flexible enough to install easily?

While the plastic is rigid for maximum support, it is designed with enough "give" to be snapped into place on the cylinder by a technician during assembly or maintenance.

Why is a plastic belt used instead of elastic for Class D?

Class D extinguishers often use a "long applicator" or specialized hose that is heavier than standard nozzles. A plastic belt provides the structural rigidity necessary to hold this extra weight securely against the tank.

Does this belt resist chemical corrosion?

Yes, the heavy-duty plastic construction is highly resistant to many industrial chemicals and the metal powders used in Class D environments.

OHS Expert Advice

"Class D extinguishers are specialized tools for high-risk metal fires (like Magnesium or Sodium). Because these units are often found in heavy manufacturing or foundry settings, the accessories take a beating. A plastic belt is a smart choice here because it won't dry out or snap like a rubber band in a hot factory. During your inspections, ensure the plastic isn't cracked; a secure hose is the difference between a controlled response and a fumbled emergency."
