3M purchase codes: series 7100184350 and following, Lad-Saf models 6106010 to 6106600 (7 x 19 galvanized cable, 10 to 600 ft).
Available in 23 cable lengths, from 10 ft (3 m) to 600 ft (182.9 m). Select the desired length from the drop-down menu.
The Lad-Saf DBI-SALA 3M swaged cable is the core of the Lad-Saf vertical safety system: it is the fixed lifeline on which the climber's detachable sleeve slides. This 9.5 mm (3/8 in) cable is of 7 x 19 construction, seven strands of nineteen wires each of galvanized (zinc-coated) steel. Rugged, economical and flexible to handle thanks to its many fine wires, it offers a minimum breaking strength of 64 kN (about 14,400 lb) and suits standard-environment installations. Available in lengths from 10 to 600 ft, factory-swaged and ready to install.

The cable is the fixed lifeline of the Lad-Saf system: the user's detachable sleeve slides along it and locks instantly in the event of a fall. The cable attaches to the system head at the top of the ladder and is tensioned at the bottom, while cable guides hold it along the path, at about one guide every 30 ft.
A Lad-Saf system is assembled with a single metal from top to bottom. You never pair a stainless head with a galvanized cable, or a cable with guides of a different metal, to avoid galvanic corrosion and ensure longevity. For a consistent galvanized assembly, pair this 7 x 19 galvanized cable with a galvanized system head and galvanized cable guides.
The 7 x 19 construction uses many fine wires for a more flexible, manageable cable, a little easier to install, with slightly lower breaking strength. The 1 x 7 construction uses fewer, larger wires: the cable is stiffer and even more abrasion-resistant. Choose 7 x 19 galvanized when flexibility and handling matter, in standard environments.
Vertical access on fixed ladders in utilities, wind energy, oil and gas, power transmission, telecommunications and industrial structure maintenance. Galvanized suits standard-environment installations, indoors or sheltered outdoors.
Inspect the cable before each use: check for broken wires, kinks, corrosion, wear or damage to the end swages. Remove any damaged cable from service and have the system checked by a competent person at the required frequency.
Keep the cable clean and dry, away from harsh chemicals. Store it flat or coiled without kinks. Any repair or component replacement must be performed by 3M DBI-SALA or a qualified person.
A detachable Lad-Saf X2 or X3 sleeve: this is required for the system to comply with ANSI Z359.16.
One guide every 20 to 40 ft, with a recommendation of about one guide per 30 ft.
No. The whole system must be the same metal to avoid galvanic corrosion: cable, head and guides all galvanized together.
Choose the length according to the ladder or structure height, from 10 ft (3 m) to 600 ft (182.9 m). Select it from the drop-down menu.
This galvanized cable (7 x 19) is more flexible and more economical, ideal in standard environments. The stainless version (1 x 7) is stiffer and more corrosion-resistant, for harsh settings and seaside.
To build your Lad-Saf vertical safety system around this cable, start with the vertical cable safety system with its top and bottom brackets (FPA6100219), the static cable sleeve (FPA5000338), the post cable guide (FPA6100136) and the system label and instructions (FPA6100252).
Under "Accessories" at the bottom of the page, complete your equipment with the intermediate cable guide (FPA6100430), the end-of-line cable guide (FPA61005XX), the flexible lifeline counterweight (FPA5901583) and the ExoFit X100 class ALP sternal harness (FPH140101XCALP).
