The Lad-Saf DBI-SALA 3M bottom bracket 6116027 is a durable steel bottom-bracket grab bar designed to anchor the base of a Lad-Saf flexible cable vertical safety system installed on a ladder post or mast. It bolts firmly to the structure and receives the Lad-Saf anchor post, providing a reliable lower anchor point for the steel cable that runs the full length of the climbing area. Measuring 5 x 2.5 x 41 in (5 x 2.5 x 41 in (12.7 x 6.3 x 104 cm)), it completes a modular system adaptable to many bracket styles and sizes.
In the Lad-Saf system, a top and a bottom bracket act as anchors for the steel cable; the sleeve connects the worker to the cable, automatically follows the climb and locks onto the cable in the event of a fall. Economical, versatile and easy to install, the system offers bracket options for bolting or welding, various rung-clamp sizes and configurations for straight or curved ladders. The complete system can be used by up to four workers at a time.
On a vertical cable safety system, the top and bottom brackets anchor the steel cable tensioned over the full height of the climbing area. The 6116027 bottom bracket provides the lower anchor: it bolts to the structure and receives the ladder post or mast, keeping the cable tensioned and aligned. A solid lower anchor is essential for smooth sleeve travel and reliable operation of the fall arrest system.
The 6116027 bottom bracket integrates with the Lad-Saf vertical cable safety system: the 6116026 anchor post connects to the bolted bottom bracket. The exact system configuration (top and bottom brackets, cable, guides, sleeve) must be validated with a competent person and per the 3M manufacturer instructions. The top bracket, pre-swaged cable, guides and sleeve are ordered separately.
Before each use, inspect the bracket, its bolting to the structure and the condition of the steel. Check for corrosion, cracks, deformation or loose fasteners. Any damaged component must be removed from service. A formal inspection by a competent person other than the user is required at least once a year, per 3M manufacturer instructions and applicable provincial regulations. Any repair must be performed by 3M DBI-SALA or a competent person. See our services to learn more.
It serves as the lower anchor of the Lad-Saf vertical safety system: it bolts to the structure and receives the ladder post or mast that tensions the cable.
Durable steel, rugged and corrosion resistant.
It bolts to the structure with brackets and a U-bolt, then receives the 6116026 anchor post.
The complete Lad-Saf system can accommodate up to 4 workers at a time, with a 310 lb (141 kg) capacity per user.
It is designed to meet ANSI A14.3-1992, OSHA 1910.27 and FAA RR-S-001301, as part of a complete Lad-Saf system.
The installer firmly secures the base of the Lad-Saf system at the foot of the ladder before a colleague begins the climb, protected over the full height. A wrong move or unsuitable equipment is enough to turn a routine climb into a serious fall. On this type of job site, he wears his full personal protective equipment: a Class L sternal-D-ring safety harness (FPH140102XCAL), cut-resistant gloves (G100), safety glasses (YA11329), a protective helmet (TA222), a high-visibility garment (VV20) and hearing protection, disposable earplugs (O1100).
To build the complete vertical fall arrest system, pair this product with the other Lad-Saf components: the vertical cable safety system (FPA6100219); the cable safety sleeve (FPA5000338); the flexible lifeline counterweight (FPA5901583); the stainless-steel pole cable guide (FPA6100136); the galvanized pole intermediate guide (FPA6100430); the end-of-line cable guide (FPA61005XX); and the system instructions and label plate (FPA6100252). Also plan a RollGliss R550 rescue and descent device (FPLR550) for controlled descent, and mark off the area at the foot of the ladder with a DANGER barricade tape (ECT3RE9).
