Nano-Lok™ DBI-SALA® 3M twin-leg self-retracting lifeline (SRL) for leading edge applications, 8 ft (2.4 m) per leg. Designed for work at height on unprotected leading edges (roofs, steel structures, beams). The galvanized cable withstands sharp cutting edges. Equipped with a quick connector for fast attachment to the back of the harness. The twin-leg design ensures continuous protection during movement without ever disconnecting from the anchor.
3M purchase code: 7012819210, model: 3500253.
This product complies with ANSI Z359.14 Class 2 for leading edge applications. Made to order by 3M. Allow approximately 1 month for delivery.
Unprotected leading edges represent a major hazard: webbing can be severed during a fall. The galvanized cable resists this type of stress. The quick connector allows fast, tool-free attachment. The twin-leg design allows transitioning between anchor points without interrupting fall protection.
Its speed-sensing locking mechanism arrests a fall within inches. The high-capacity external energy absorber limits forces on the falling worker. Once deployed, the overload indicator appears. This SRL supports a worker weighing up to 310 lb (141 kg) including clothing, tools and equipment.
Housing is durable lightweight thermoplastic nylon with integrated quick connector. Total weight: 9.8 lb (4.45 kg). Integrates IRF (i-Safe) technology.
The cable of this self-retracting lifeline is made of galvanized steel, a zinc-treated metal material designed to resist corrosion. Unlike textile webbing, a steel cable cannot be severed by a sharp steel edge during a fall. This is the fundamental property that makes it essential for Leading Edge applications. Galvanization also ensures extended longevity in outdoor environments exposed to moisture.
The anchor point must always be above the dorsal D-ring of the harness and positioned vertically relative to the user. The worker should remain below the anchor within a 30-degree angle.
This model is designed for leading edge applications. The galvanized cable withstands unprotected sharp edges. The anchor must withstand 5,000 lb. Consult the manufacturer's manual for full details.
Perform a routine inspection before each use. Look for signs of deterioration, wear, or damage. Replace at the slightest sign of failure. A qualified person must inspect periodically. Recommended service life: 5 years. Visit the Service tab for Sylprotec inspection services.
Any equipment subjected to a fall or impact must be taken out of service.
Clean with mild soap and warm water (37°C). No bleach or abrasives. Air dry. Fully retract when not in use.
The FPLR3500253 features a quick connector for tool-free attachment and removal. The FPLR3500250 uses a standard connector. Both models have the same twin-leg 8 ft galvanized Leading Edge cable.
The twin-leg design ensures continuous attachment when moving across a roof or structure. When transitioning between anchor points, one leg always remains attached. For a fixed workstation, the single-leg version (FPLR3500252) is sufficient.
Yes, the Nano-Lok Leading Edge works in standard applications too. Its cable makes it slightly heavier than a webbing model. In environments without sharp edges, a lighter webbing model may be preferable.
For leading edge work requiring continuous movement, pair this lifeline with a harness ExoFit X300 Class APL (FPH1403190C) for climbing and positioning, or the harness ExoFit X300 Class AP (FPH1403192C) for maximum mobility on rooftops. Add safety glasses SecureFit 400 (YASF401BG) and earplugs EARsoft (OA1250) for protection on site. Under "Accessories" at the bottom of this page.
The gloves Dyneema PU A4 (GS13SXGPU) protect your hands when handling sharp materials, and the bag Peakworks (FPBAG) keeps your equipment clean between uses. For the single-leg version with quick connector, also consider the LVAR Nano-Lok single (FPLR3500252).
