The 3M Adflo 15-0299 High-Efficiency Particulate Filter is the main filter of the 3M Adflo Powered Air Purifying Respirator for protection against welding fumes, fine dust, and particle aerosols. This NIOSH magenta color-coded filter (high-efficiency) provides filtration against both oil-based and oil-free particles. It is designed for welders and heavy industry workers using the Adflo system with Speedglas 9100 Air Series, 9100 FX-Air, 9100 MP, M-400SG, and G5-01 welding helmets. Its useful service life is 60 months. Available in a pack of 2 units (R15/0299-2).
3M Manufacturer Code: 7100245141, model: 15-0299-99X02
The 15-0299 filter installs directly in the Adflo turbo system, upstream of the organic vapor cartridges (15-0499) when they are used. The 15-0009 spark arrestor must be installed upstream of the high-efficiency filter to extend its service life by intercepting large particles and welding spatter. The filter is a consumable product that must be replaced regularly based on exposure conditions. Origin: Canada.
Replace the 15-0299 filter as soon as the Adflo system's breathing resistance increases noticeably or according to the established preventive maintenance schedule. The filter must not be cleaned or reused after saturation. Always install the 15-0009 spark arrestor upstream to protect the filter. Store in the original packaging away from light and moisture. Check the expiry date before use.
No. The 15-0299 high-efficiency filter provides particle filtration (welding fumes, dust, aerosols) but does not provide protection against organic vapors or acid gases. For protection against organic vapors and acid gases, the 15-0499 Adflo replacement cartridges must be added to the system in combination with the 15-0299 filter. The 35-0699 odor buffer assembly can also be added to reduce nuisance odor concentrations. Assess workplace risks to determine the appropriate filter combination.
These two references are different products. The R15/0299-2 is the high-efficiency particulate filter (2 units), which represents the primary Adflo system filtration against fumes and dust. The R15/0499-6 contains organic vapor and acid gas cartridges (6 units). These are complementary components in the Adflo system - the 15-0299 filter protects against particles, the 15-0499 cartridges protect against gases/vapors. Both can be used simultaneously for combined protection.
The primary signal indicating the 15-0299 filter needs replacement is a noticeable increase in breathing resistance - the user feels more effort to breathe, or the Adflo system airflow drops below the required minimum (flow alarm triggers). It is strongly recommended to establish a preventive replacement schedule based on hours of use and exposure levels, rather than waiting for breathing resistance to become noticeable. Maximum useful service life is 60 months.
For welding work requiring Adflo respiratory protection, equip yourself with Kevlar gloves (G625), SecureFit amber anti-fog safety glasses (YASF203), a cotton (AGP10) and a split leather apron (VT1288).
