Cotton has a high water-absorbing capacity and can deal as well with sebum without getting damp. This fabric also has good breathable characteristics, it is hypoallergenic and it offers a nice touch and good comfort which suits perfectly those who have sensitive skin. Cotton has low thermal-conductivity, therefore in summer it prevents your skin from heating, and in winter it preserves the warmth of your body.
Polyester is a polymer from which a man-made fibre is made. This fiber is then weaved to form a fabric resistant to sunlight and substantial temperature variances. By itself or blended with cotton, polyester is abrasion resistant and retains its shape when wet. Moreover, this material absorbs moisture well and dries quickly. It is lastly easy to clean.
Natural rubber latex properties vary according to the additives dispersed slightly through the compounding. This fixed polymer structure delivers among other things its significant elasticity, its flexibility, its high tensile strength and its excellent barrier performance to viruses and blood borne pathogens. In comparison with its synthetic counterparts, latex offers a poor resistance to oil, fat and hydrocarbons, but resist well to a 10% concentration of nitric acid, a 36% concentration of hydrochloric acid and a 50% concentration of sulphuric acid.
This glove is ideal for general purposes, but the manufacturer recommends it for work in glass plants, the automotive industry, the construction field, material handling, masonry work and forestry.
Regarding the chemical resistance of latex, you should know that latex degrades quickly when in contact with most organic solvents and hydrocarbons. This glove cannot eliminate the risk of mechanical endangerment although it offers an average protection on this level. This glove is partially covered only, thus immersing it completely is not recommended. Natural rubber latex contains latex proteins, a known allergen. A simple contact with that protein can lead to a reaction or the development of a Type-I allergy, that is, a quick reaction sometime deadly. Symptoms may range from a simple skin irritation to a life-threatening anaphylactic reaction.
It is recommended to carry out a basic maintenance to extend the service life of your gloves. Simply wash them with cold water, that is, 85°F/30°C, and a mild detergent. You can then dry them at low temperature in a dryer. Never use bleach on this glove.
No. Since it is only partially coated (palm and fingers), it is not meant to be immersed; latex also degrades in contact with organic solvents and hydrocarbons.
Yes. The coating is natural rubber latex, an allergen; avoid this glove if there is any risk of latex allergy.
