This Stopper II model is an ultra-rugged polycarbonate shield designed to cover manual fire alarm pull stations. Unlike models equipped with a siren, this version is silent. It is specifically designed to provide high-level physical protection against impacts and accidental triggers in areas where a local sounder is not required or desired.
This cover is UL listed hence the equipment and its installation meets Canadian standards. It is also FM approved; the Factory Mutual Approvals is a group offering testing and certification services on products for commercial and industrial use. This piece of equipment is ideal for fire safety in public locations such as schools, hospitals, mills, etc.
STI™ product code: STI-1200
Stopper II® covers protect manual pull stations from impacts and help prevent false fire alarms without restricting legitimate alarms. The cover can easily be lifted and is connected to the frame by a metal cable. It was designed for indoors use only. Such an accessory requires a double action to trigger a fire alarm compared to a simple pull station which requires one sole move.
All labeling on the cover and instructions provided in the package are in English (PDF version available for download).

Polycarbonate is a clear low flammability material highly resistant to impacts which features impressive mechanical and thermal properties, hence its use in so many fields. It is commonly used to manufacture safety eyewear, protective faceshield, law enforcement shield, optical lenses, thermal imaging and so many other vandal-proof items. The polycarbonate used for the fabrication of Stopper II® covers is UV-stabilized against degradation caused by the sun.
This model is ideal for industrial or commercial environments where the risk of physical impact is high:
Impact Protection: Molded from high-strength polycarbonate (the same material used in police riot shields), it protects the pull station from stray balls, moving carts, or accidental bumps.
Accidental Trigger Prevention: By requiring a deliberate action (lifting the cover), it prevents occupants from triggering the alarm by accidentally leaning against the wall or moving equipment nearby.
English Language Instructions: Features clear red silk-screened instructions: "In case of fire, lift cover and pull station".
Zero Maintenance: Since there are no electronics or alarms, there are no batteries to replace. It is a "fit and forget" safety solution.
Flush-Mount Design: Engineered specifically for pull stations where the electrical box is recessed into the wall.
Material: UV-stabilized, clear polycarbonate (resistant to cracking and yellowing).
Local Alarm: None (Silent model).
Language: English (Red silk-screen).
Mounting: Flush mount (recessed).
Certifications: UL/cUL Listed and ADA Compliant.
This protector is highly recommended for:
Gymnasiums & Sports Centers: To shield stations from ball impacts without the need for a local siren.
Healthcare Corridors: Where the frequent passage of hospital beds or rolling equipment poses a collision risk.
Warehouses & Factories: To secure triggers in material handling or storage areas.
Schools: In areas where physical protection is the absolute priority.
The cover is designed to be lifted in one quick, intuitive motion. Fire authorities widely accept these devices because they drastically reduce costly accidental alarms while still allowing immediate access in the event of a real fire.
While the polycarbonate is UV-stabilized, this specific model is primarily designed for indoor use. For outdoor protection against rain or snow, models with weather-tight gaskets are recommended.
ADA Compliance: Due to its slim profile, this model does not protrude more than 4 inches from the wall. This is critical for the safety of visually impaired individuals navigating corridors.
Cleaning: Use only mild soap and water with a soft cloth. Avoid ammonia-based cleaners or solvents, as they can cloud the transparent plastic and make the station hard to see.
Malicious Intent: If your building suffers from repeated malicious false alarms (vandalism), we recommend upgrading to the Stopper II with Alarm (STI-1100), which includes a deterrent local siren.
Some basic practices should be adopted to maintain manual pull station covers. It is thus recommended to wash the cover with lukewarm water and a gentle soap. The manufacturer strongly advises not to use steel pads since they scratch any surface they touch which will temper with the legibility of the label. It also is not recommended to use harsh soaps on the cover since polycarbonate doesn’t mix well at all with a wide array of acids and other chemical compounds. Indeed, these products will make your cover kind of melt. If the cover surface isn’t soft to the touch and bubbles appear, the cover has been corrupted and must be replaced.
As for its life service, the manufacturer asserts that his Stopper II® covers are durable; some have been in service for almost 20 years.
