The Dentec self-retracting lifeline (SRL) is a personal fall limiter equipped with an internal energy absorber. With a length of 11 ft (3.35 m), it retracts automatically to follow the worker's movements and greatly reduces the arrest distance compared with a conventional lanyard. Its webbing is made of kevlar, and the carabiner termination is protected by a UHMWPE sleeve.
Dentec Safety Specialist model 012115. This lifeline complies with ANSI Z359.14-2014 and CSA Z259.2.2-1998. Important: based on the previous CSA standard, it does not protect against sharp edges (leading-edge or LE applications). For that type of use, choose an LE model.
This SRL is fitted with one standard steel carabiner with a 7/8 in (22.22 mm) opening, self-locking with double action. Note that it does not come with a semi-automatic swivel-gate carabiner of ¾ in (such as FPAM88 or FPAM91). With a vertical anchorage, the limiter can support a worker weighing 310 lb (136 kg), including clothing, tools and equipment.
Webbing dimensions: width 1.0 in (25.4 mm), length 11 ft (3.35 m). The arrest distance varies with the anchorage layout; consult the manufacturer's manual for the conditions of use and the required clearance.
This SRL offers greater freedom of movement and a reduced arrest distance compared with traditional lanyards.
The anchorage point should preferably be located above the level of the harness dorsal D-ring and positioned vertically relative to the user. This lifeline is not designed for horizontal applications or sharp edges. The user must assess the fall distance, the clearance below the worker and the anchorage strength (5000 lb). For more information, consult the manufacturer's manual.
The worker is responsible for performing a routine inspection before each use. The worker must check the retraction and locking of the webbing, the fall indicator, the carabiner, and note any sign of degradation, wear or breakage. Replace the equipment at the first sign of failure. This SRL should also be inspected periodically by a qualified person other than the worker, according to the manufacturer's frequency and conditions. Any equipment that has withstood a fall or an impact must be taken out of service. Sylprotec offers a fall protection inspection service; to learn more, see the Services tab.
For cleaning, use a mild soap and lukewarm water (37 °C). Do not use bleach or abrasive or chemical products. Keep the mechanism clean and dry. Air dry, without excessive heat, in a clean environment. Avoid prolonged exposure to sunlight and to any source of contamination.
The self-retracting lifeline retracts automatically and limits the fall distance, offering more freedom of movement and a shorter arrest than a conventional lanyard of the same length.
No. This model is not certified "Leading Edge" (LE): it must not be used where the webbing could run over a sharp edge. For those situations, choose an LE model.
It supports a worker with a total weight of 310 lb (136 kg), including clothing, tools and equipment, with a vertical anchorage.
To complete your fall protection, also consider a self-locking carabiner (FPAM88), an anchorage sling (FPAE), a fixed anchorage point (FPA822), a concrete connector (FPAF075N), a Koala harness with quick buckles (FPH02474A), a Koala harness with grommets (FPH33102A), a Koala harness with pass-thru buckles (FPH33101A) and a storage bag (FPBAG).
