The Peakworks vertical lifeline rope is made of a three-strand cable in extruded copolymer fiber, 5/8 in (16 mm) diameter. It serves as a vertical lifeline along which a fall-arrest rope grab slides. Fitted with a splice at one end (which prevents the rope grab from detaching) and a standard carabiner with a ¾ in (19 mm) opening, self-locking with double action, at the other end, it installs quickly between an anchorage point and the sliding device.
Peakworks product code: V84014025, model VL-1125-25 (25 ft length). This rope is available in 25, 50 or 100 foot lengths (selectable from the drop-down menu). It complies with CSA Z259.2.5-2012 and meets ANSI Z359. Its minimum breaking strength is 6000 lb (27 kN); the steel carabiner withstands a force of 3600 lb (16 kN) without deforming.
Important: to ensure system compatibility and effectiveness, always use a rope and a rope grab of the same brand. This rope pairs in particular with the Peakworks FPACC (E4) or FPACCE6 (E6) rope grabs, which require a 5/8 in cable.
This vertical lifeline offers simple installation and high strength for safe vertical movement.
The anchorage point should preferably be located above the level of the harness dorsal D-ring and positioned vertically relative to the user. The worker should stay below the anchorage point, within an angle of no more than 45 degrees. Assess the fall distance, available clearance and anchorage strength (5000 lb) before each use. For more information, consult the manufacturer's manual.
The worker is responsible for performing a routine inspection before each use. The worker must note any sign of degradation, wear, malfunction or breakage (strands, splice, carabiner), and replace the rope at the first sign of failure. This rope should also be inspected by a qualified person other than the worker; it should be recertified by the manufacturer no later than 2 years after its manufacturing date, then yearly. Any equipment that has withstood a fall or an impact must be taken out of service. Sylprotec offers a lanyard and harness inspection service; to learn more, see the Services tab.
For cleaning, wash with lukewarm water (37 °C). Never use bleach or abrasive or chemical products on your rope. Air dry, without excessive heat, in a clean environment (a clean absorbent cloth or a fan can help). Avoid any source of contamination.
The rope is available in 25, 50 or 100 feet, selectable from the drop-down menu. Choose the length based on the working height and the anchorage position.
Always use a rope grab of the same brand to ensure compatibility. The Peakworks FPACC (E4) and FPACCE6 (E6) rope grabs are designed for a 5/8 in cable like this one.
Yes. This lifeline should be recertified by the manufacturer no later than 2 years after manufacturing, then yearly, in addition to the inspection before each use.
To complete your vertical system, also consider an E4 rope grab (FPACC), an E6 heavy-duty rope grab (FPACCE6), a basic class A harness (FPH1000A), an anchorage sling (FPAE), a reusable roof anchor (FPA827), a temporary roof anchor (FPA828), the complete roofer kit (FPK50) and a storage bag (FPBAG).
