This universal hose belt (or hose retainer) is a heavy-duty accessory designed to hold larger discharge hoses securely against the body of a fire extinguisher. It prevents the hose from becoming a snagging hazard and ensures the unit remains compact for storage in cabinets or on vehicle brackets.
Material: Black plastic.
Why use a hose strap?
A hose strap safely secures the extinguisher hose to the extinguisher body. This helps protect the hose against accidental bumps and snags, and increases its service life.
How to install the hose strap?
Place the hose strap around the fire extinguisher. Adjust the strap by tightening it until it is snug against the extinguisher. Cut the excess length of the strap, then clip the hose into the strap hook.
It’s essential that the hose trap be very tightly secured to the extinguisher, so that it won’t move or slip. Otherwise, the hose might become stuck in the strap when you need to use the extinguisher. We recommend performing a test before cutting the excess strap length. The strap hook fits ½” (12.7 mm) diameter hoses.

Universal Design: While ideal for 10 lb units, its flexible nature allows it to work with various brands including Amerex, Badger, and Buckeye.
Hole Diameter: 1/2 inch (approx. 12.7 mm) for the hose.
Cylinder Compatibility: Designed primarily for 10 lb portable extinguishers.
Material: Weather-resistant reinforced elastic.
Color: Professional black finish.
Usually, 5 lb extinguishers use a smaller 3/8" belt. This 1/2" model is specifically intended for the thicker hoses and larger tanks found on 10 lb models.
The belt is installed by sliding it over the bottom of the extinguisher cylinder and pulling it up to the desired height. No tools are required.
This model is made from high-quality elastic designed to remain flexible in various temperatures, making it suitable for extinguishers kept in unheated warehouses or vehicles.
Yes, the tension is specifically calibrated to hold the hose against vibrations while still allowing a user to pull it free instantly during an emergency.
"In high-traffic industrial areas or on vibrating machinery, a standard hose belt can eventually lose its grip. Upgrading to a heavy-duty 1/2" universal belt ensures that the hose stays put. During your annual maintenance, check for 'dry rot' or cracks in the elastic; a snapped belt during an emergency can cause the hose to whip around, delaying your reaction time".
