Showa NSK26 Ultra-long Nitrile Glove - Waterproof, Chemical Resistant, and Comfortable

This flexible, fully waterproof protective glove offers excellent performance against a wide variety of chemicals such as solvents, oils, hydrocarbons, and acids. Its seamless design, full nitrile coating, and cotton/polyester Jersey inner lining make it a durable, versatile, and comfortable glove designed for demanding industrial environments.

Size Selection

Showa uses a different sizing system than many North American manufacturers. It is therefore essential to refer to the size letter, not the number:

  • 8/S
  • 9/M
  • 10/L
  • 11/XL

Please select your size in the box above before adding to your cart.

Standards and resistance

This glove meets several international standards for mechanical and chemical risks.

EN 388: 2016 standards — Classification 4111X

  • Abrasion: level 4 (maximum)
  • Cut: level 1
  • Tear: level 1
  • Puncture: level 1
  • “X” = additional test not applicable

This classification demonstrates excellent abrasion resistance, which is essential for work involving repeated or abrasive handling.

EN 374-11: 2016 standards / Type B — JKL chemicals

These gloves provide a minimum of 30 minutes' protection against at least three of the substances tested. They are validated against:

  • J – n-heptane
  • K – Sodium hydroxide (NaOH) 40%
  • L – Sulfuric acid (H₂SO₄) 96%

ISO 374-5: 2016 standard

Certified gloves for protection against hazardous chemicals and microorganisms, providing an additional level of safety during critical handling.

Special features of the G523 model

The outer surface of the glove is completely waterproof and has a rough finish that improves grip on dry or wet surfaces. Its cotton/polyester lining promotes moisture wicking, contributing to comfort during prolonged wear.

An integrated eyelet at the top of the glove allows the pair to be tied together for proper and convenient storage, while facilitating vertical hanging. The elastic cuff keeps the glove securely in place. At 25 inches (650 mm), it covers almost the entire arm for extended protection against splashes or prolonged contact with chemicals.

Properties of nitrile

Nitrile is recognized as the ideal alternative to latex, particularly in sensitive environments or for people with allergies.

Its advantages:

  • High flexibility and excellent durability
  • High resistance to oils, solvents, hydrocarbons, and chemicals
  • Protection against household products such as ammonia, pesticides, herbicides, paints, fertilizers, etc.
  • Increased comfort thanks to its elasticity and more pleasant feel than some other polymers

This is a synthetic elastomer obtained by copolymerization of butadiene and acrylonitrile, specially designed to resist mechanical and chemical wear.

Recommended applications

The Showa NSK26 glove is approved for use in food processing plants in Canada, while also being ideal for many other sectors:

  • Spraying, pulverizing, chemical preparation
  • Laboratories, analysis, pharmacy
  • Painting, coating shops, surface preparation
  • Water treatment, wastewater
  • Construction, maintenance, machining, handling
  • Assembly lines, processing industries
  • Metal, pulp, and paper handling
  • Warehouses, logistics centers
  • General use for the general public during demanding work

This model is ideal for environments requiring long-range chemical protection, good grip, and a high level of durability.

Restrictions

Gloves must be replaced as soon as signs of wear or damage appear.

They must not be worn in situations where there is a risk of entanglement with moving parts.

Although nitrile offers excellent mechanical and chemical resistance, it is not suitable for heat or flames.

The thicker the glove, the better its resistance, but no nitrile glove can provide high thermal protection.

Care and lifespan

  1. If necessary, the outer surface can be cleaned with water and mild soap.
  2. Soaking the gloves is not recommended, as the inside of the glove is difficult to dry properly.
  3. Dispose of gloves according to your local regulations when they reach the end of their lifespan.

FAQ: Showa NSK26 Chemical Protection Glove

1. What does the 4111X classification according to EN 388 mean?

This code represents the mechanical performance of the glove:

  • 4: maximum abrasion resistance
  • 1: basic cut resistance
  • 1: basic tear resistance
  • 1: basic puncture resistance
  • X: additional test not applicable or not performed

Level 4 abrasion resistance means that this glove offers excellent durability during repeated or abrasive handling.

2. What does “Type B - JKL” mean in the EN 374 standard?

Type B indicates that the glove offers at least 30 minutes of protection against a minimum of three of the chemicals tested.

Here, the letters JKL correspond to the following substances:

  • J: n-heptane
  • K: 40% sodium hydroxide (caustic soda)
  • L: 96% sulfuric acid

This means that it allows you to work safely with these products under controlled conditions.

3. Does this glove also protect against microorganisms?

Yes. The glove complies with ISO 374-5, which means it provides a barrier against microorganisms (bacteria, fungi) and hazardous chemicals in high-risk environments.

4. Is the glove truly waterproof?

Yes. The 100% nitrile coating and seamless design make the glove completely waterproof, even when submerged or exposed to heavy splashes.

It is particularly effective for work involving solvents, aqueous solutions, acids, and various aggressive liquids.

5. Can this glove be used in the food industry?

Yes. This model is approved for use in food processing plants in Canada, as it is designed to resist aggressive agents without releasing harmful substances into food products.

It is suitable for indirect handling or for tasks involving wet or corrosive environments.

6. Is nitrile safer than latex?

Nitrile is an excellent alternative to latex because:

  • it does not contain allergenic proteins;
  • it offers much greater chemical resistance;
  • it is more resistant to oils and hydrocarbons;
  • it retains good flexibility even with prolonged use.

This is why it is preferred in industrial and chemical environments.
