The Peakworks D-ring extender strap is an extension designed to be installed between the dorsal D-ring of a safety harness and the fall arrest connector. Fitted with a small D-ring, it makes it easier to connect the harness to a lanyard, rope grab or anchorage point by moving the connection point away from the worker's back, which improves accessibility and comfort. Its dimensions are 2 in x 18 in (5 cm x 45.72 cm).
Peakworks product code: V860302 or model CP-14010. This strap is designed to withstand static forces of 5000 lb (22 kN), in compliance with CSA Z259.10-06 and ANSI Z359.1-2007. Very light (0.3 lb), it is easily added to existing equipment without weighing the worker down.
The extender strap is especially useful when the harness dorsal D-ring is hard to reach alone, or when a little more slack is needed to quickly connect and disconnect the fall arrest system. It does not replace a lanyard: it simply extends the dorsal attachment point.
This simple accessory improves the everyday ergonomics of the fall arrest connection.
The worker is responsible for performing a routine inspection before each use. The worker must note any sign of degradation, wear, malfunction or breakage (stitching, webbing, ring) and replace the strap at the first sign of failure. This accessory should also be inspected periodically by a qualified person other than the worker, all the more often as working conditions are harsh. Any equipment that has withstood a fall or an impact must be taken out of service. Sylprotec offers a fall protection inspection service; to learn more, see the Services tab.
For cleaning, use a mild soap and lukewarm water (37 °C). Do not use bleach or abrasive or chemical products. Air dry, without excessive heat, in a clean environment. Avoid prolonged exposure to sunlight and to any source of contamination.
It extends the harness dorsal D-ring to make the attachment point more accessible and to ease connecting a lanyard or rope grab. It does not absorb fall energy: it complements the system.

No. The extender strap replaces neither a lanyard nor an energy absorber; it only serves to extend the harness dorsal attachment point.
