The Peakworks semi-automatic self-locking triangular carabiner is an anchorage connector designed for fall protection. It requires a double action to open and locks automatically on closing, preventing any accidental opening. Its asymmetric D-shaped steel hook allows a larger opening of 1-3/4 in (45 mm), convenient for anchoring fall protection equipment such as lanyards and self-retracting lifelines. Sold individually.
It complies with the CSA Z259.12-18C and ANSI Z359.12 standards and can withstand a force of 7868 lb (35 kN) without deforming. The rotating locking sleeve withstands a force of 3600 lb.
Rugged and safe, this triangular carabiner with an asymmetric D hook offers a large opening and a reliable connection in the fall protection chain, while staying simple to operate with one hand.
The carabiner connects between the fall arrest device (lanyard, retractable) and the anchorage point or harness ring. Its large opening eases connection to bulky anchorage points. Its double action and automatic locking prevent involuntary opening under load. Always check that the gate is fully closed and locked before use, and avoid any load on the gate (the carabiner must work along its major axis). As with any fall protection equipment, account for the fall distance and the free clearance below the worker.
The worker is responsible for a routine inspection before each use: look for any sign of degradation, wear, malfunction or breakage, and check the gate and locking sleeve. This carabiner should also be inspected periodically by a qualified person other than the user. Any equipment subjected to a fall or impact must be removed from service. For cleaning, use mild soap and lukewarm water (37 °C), with no bleach or abrasive or chemical products; air-dry without excessive heat. The gate mechanism is lubricated only with powdered graphite. Sylprotec offers a fall protection equipment inspection service; see the Services tab.
Here are the most frequent questions about the opening, strength and use of this triangular carabiner.
It is semi-automatic: a double action is required to open it, and it locks automatically on closing, preventing any accidental opening.
It withstands a force of 7868 lb (35 kN) without deforming, and its rotating locking sleeve withstands 3600 lb.
Its large opening, enabled by the asymmetric D hook, eases connection to large anchorage points or rings.
To build a complete fall protection system, this carabiner combines with the rest of the protection chain. Also consider another oval carabiner (FPAM91), a class A harness (FPH1000A), a panic-lock grab (FPACC), a vertical lifeline rope (FPAC), a stainless permanent anchorage connector (FPA826), a temporary concrete anchor (FPAF075N), an anchor sling (FPAE), a fixed anchorage connector (FPA822) and a storage bag (FPBAG).
