The 3M Speedglas 04-0290-00 inside cover protects the side of the filter facing you from sparks and spatter that rebound inside the helmet. It fits older 9000V/F and utility filters in the 9000 series, as well as SL and 100V filters, the one used in the Blaze helmet. Format 3.6 x 1.7 in, bag of 5. It is often overlooked, but the inner face of the filter needs protection too: sparks and spatter can rebound inside the helmet and mark it. The 3M Speedglas 04-0290-00 inside cover is there for exactly that. This small clear rectangle of 3.6 x 1.7 in sits between your eyes and the filter, and is replaced as soon as it gets marked. The result: a more comfortable view of the joint, even when the outside of the helmet still looks clean, and a preserved filter. The bag of 5 keeps spares within reach.
The 04-0290-00 equips older 9000V/F filters and utility filters in the 9000 family, including 9000 FlexView assemblies. The 3M catalogue also specifies it for SL and 100V filters; the latter is used notably in the Blaze helmet. The 9000 series shell (R04-0112-00NC) serves as a reference to identify the system: an assembly with a 9002NC filter takes the 04-0280-00 (YS0280) cover instead, which has different dimensions. The complete Speedglas 100 helmet is not currently offered on our website. For a closer view, also discover the Speedglas (R06-0500-56) magnifiers.
Reach the inner face of the filter following your helmet instructions, release the worn cover and engage the new one in its retainers. Check that it lies flat, is held firmly and that the viewing area is clear.
Clean the cover regularly with a clean lint-free cloth. When it is pitted, scratched or too dirty to become clear again, replace it.
The inside cover completes the protection of the filter, which remains the component that protects your eyes from the arc. Always use it in a complete, compatible helmet.
Older 9000V/F and utility filters in the 9000 series, including FlexView assemblies, as well as SL and 100V filters. The 100V is used in the Blaze helmet, among others.
The 9002NC takes a different cover, the 04-0280-00 (YS0280), in another format. The 04-0290-00 measures 3.6 x 1.7 in.
It protects the side of the filter facing the welder from sparks and spatter that rebound inside the helmet, and it is far easier to replace than the filter.
As soon as it is pitted, scratched or deposits no longer come off when cleaned. A clear cover makes reading the joint much more comfortable.
The bag holds 5, enough for several replacements or to equip a whole crew.
Under a 100V, SL or 9000V helmet, the welder wears SecureFit SF201 glasses (YASF201) and selects split-leather welding gloves (G601). The insulating-cotton-lined pair (G600) offers another choice for MIG welding, depending on the task. Disposable 3M earplugs (O1100) and a blue flame-resistant ARC 2 coverall (V1766) complete the outfit.
To maintain a compatible 100 helmet, choose the standard (R07-0200-51) plate or the heat (R07-0200-53) version for the outside face of the filter. The holder (R07-0680-00) takes a magnifier (R06-0500-58) or a lens (R06-0500-57) to suit the welder's viewing needs. Check the filter model and the fitted parts before preparing any replacement components.
