The 3M Speedglas 07-0200-53 high-temperature outside cover protects the filter of your Speedglas 100 helmet when the workstation calls for this version. It intercepts sparks and spatter to preserve the filter surface. Sold in a bag of 10, it provides a maintenance reserve for the shop. It complements the inside (R04-0290-00) cover of the 100V filter and stands apart from the standard (R07-0200-51) and scratch-resistant versions of the same series.

Some workstations are more demanding than others. For those that call for high-temperature outside protection, the Speedglas 100 series offers the 07-0200-53. This replaceable clear plate sits in front of the filter and takes the sparks and spatter to preserve its surface. Held securely in the frame, it keeps the optical path clean and makes weld details easier to follow. When the surface gets marked or distorted, you replace it and the helmet gets a clear view back. The bag of 10 lets you keep stock suited to the workstation.
The 07-0200-53 fits on the outside face of Speedglas 100 helmet filters. For the 100V filter, upkeep also includes the inside (R04-0290-00) cover. If your workstation does not call for the high-temperature version, the standard (R07-0200-51) plate and the scratch (R07-0200-52) resistant plate are the other options in the series.
Remove the outside frame following the Speedglas 100 instructions and fit the high-temperature plate. Engage the frame retainers, then check plate seating and visibility before resuming.
The face exposed to spatter is the one to watch. Distortion, pits or scratches that interfere with vision, or an area that stays opaque after cleaning, signal that the plate needs changing.
Fitted on a complete series 100 helmet, the high-temperature plate preserves the filter, which provides eye protection against the arc. Replace a distorted plate right away.
When your workstation calls for high-temperature outside protection. For routine maintenance, the 07-0200-51 standard plate is generally enough.
The 07-0200-51 standard and the 07-0200-52 scratch-resistant plates. All three versions fit in the same place, in front of the filter.
The bag holds 10, enough to keep the helmet ready for several replacements.
Yes, the 100V filter takes the 04-0290-00 inside cover, which protects the side facing the welder.
Yes, the method is the same: remove the outside frame, replace the plate and put the frame back.
Near the heat, the welder protects the eyes under the 100 helmet with Astro OTG eyewear (YAU2500) and the nape with a flame-resistant neck gaiter (V313). Endura goatskin and Kevlar gloves (G625), an H7B neckband earmuff (OPH7B) and a split-leather bib apron (VT1288) complete the outfit.
When preparing the same 100 helmet, compare the magnifier (R06-0500-59) and lens (R06-0500-58) options to suit the welder's viewing needs. The hard-coat (R07-0200-52) plate provides an alternative outside cover, while the holder (R07-0680-00) takes the magnifying lens. The inside (R04-0290-00) plate protects the inside face of the filter while the helmet is in use.
