Compatibility, suspension and configurations

Choose one assembly: S-807 with S-950 suspension to form an S-857 assembly, with approved tube and air supply added separately, OR S-807 with S-960 adapter AND H-700 hard hat in the approved configuration, OR S-807 without internal suspension over a complete M-300 OR M-400 to keep it clean. These options are not cumulative. For the last option, retain all respiratory elements of the M-series headgear.

Installation and adjustment

Identify the selected assembly before opening a replacement hood. Attach it to the corresponding support following 3M instructions and check visor and inner shroud positioning. When fitted over M-300/M-400, follow the bulletin for that assembly: the visor cannot be raised with the hood in place. Check the system and air supply before entering the workstation.

Use limitations

Do not use this system in atmospheres containing less than 19.5% oxygen, with unknown contaminant concentrations, or that are immediately dangerous to life or health (IDLH). The hood alone provides no filtration. The tube and air supply must be approved for the selected assembly. Do not use this hood for high heat, flames or sparks. ASTM F1862 fluid resistance does not guarantee protection against all chemicals. NIOSH approval concerns the complete system rather than the textile alone.

Care, storage and replacement

Inspect the fabric, seams and visor before refitting the hood. Replace a soiled or damaged hood and check the reusable support before fitting new textile. Clean reusable elements according to their own instructions. Store spare hoods so they remain free of contamination before assembly. S-series hoods contain no natural rubber latex.
