For sites requiring head, face and respiratory protection, the 3M Speedglas 9100 MP 37-1101-00SW combines a hard top, grinding visor and Adflo. The welding shield flips up between tasks. This version excludes the welding filter, allowing suitable 9100 optics to be selected for the workstation.

A site welder needs to prepare, grind and weld without disrupting the protection worn around the head. The 3M Speedglas 9100 MP 37-1101-00SW kit brings three protections together in one piece of equipment: a hard top for the head, a flip-up welding shield and a clear visor for grinding, supplied with filtered air by the belt-worn Adflo turbo. The turbo comes with its high efficiency particulate filter, its lithium-ion battery and its charger. The welding filter is not included: this version lets the crew choose a 9100 series filter according to its processes. Side windows widen the view, and the welder can switch from welding to grinding simply by raising the welding shield.
The 9100 MP addresses jobs where a welding helmet alone does not cover the site's protection needs. Its hard top is integrated with a headpiece containing a flip-up shield and clear visor. Once a suitable filter is fitted, the welder can move from assembly inspection to grinding and back to welding without reorganising several independent items around the head.
Adflo supplies filtered air through a belt-mounted blower. Dividing the equipment between head and waist keeps filtration away from the helmet. Side windows support awareness of activity around the assembly, useful when other workers and tools move near the workstation.
This version is distinguished by the absence of a welding filter. It suits a company retaining a compatible 9100 filter or choosing optics separately. The shell itself does not provide shade settings or electronic modes.
3M targets design and construction, heavy infrastructure and industrial maintenance. On a site where head protection is required, the hard top avoids stacking a safety helmet and a welding helmet. The kit suits steel frame assembly, plant maintenance and shops where welding, grinding and sanding take place on the same part, once the welding filter is installed.
Do not use the helmet for laser welding, processes requiring shade 14 or higher, or heavy-duty overhead welding where molten metal may fall. The high efficiency filter captures particles, without protecting against gases or vapours and without supplying oxygen. Do not use the kit in an atmosphere that is oxygen deficient, unknown or immediately dangerous to life or health. Without an installed welding filter, the shield does not protect against arc radiation: never weld before fitting an approved filter and its plates.

The protection factor of 25 applies to the complete configuration assembled with its approved components. Before putting it into service, the employer assesses the contaminants, confirms that a particulate filter is sufficient and trains the welder in airflow checks and turbo alarms. Adflo welding respirators group the parts of this system, and the respiratory protection category presents solutions for other exposures.
9100 MP platform, model 37-1101-00SW, polyphthalamide (PPA) shell, hard top, side windows, flip-up clear visor. Processes once equipped: arc welding, MIG/MAG, TIG above 1 A, plasma, tack welding and grinding. Belt-mounted turbo, magenta high efficiency filter, operating temperature from -5 °C to 55 °C. Packed weight: 13.136 lb / 5.958 kg. Assembled with an approved filter, the configuration meets ANSI Z87.1-2010 and CSA Z94.3 and is NIOSH approved.
Take time to adjust the headgear and face seal while wearing the actual site clothing. Check flip-up shield movement and a clear view through the visor. The tube should follow head movements without lifting the headpiece or restricting its air passage.
The Adflo instructions require inspection of the motor blower, battery pack, filters and tube, plus an airflow check before entering a contaminated area. Filter and battery indicators assist these checks, but a low-airflow or low-battery alarm requires immediate exit from the area. During maintenance, the prefilter and high-efficiency filter are replaced, not cleaned by blowing or striking them to remove dust.
3M recommends replacing the helmet shell no later than 3 years after its manufacture date, including both storage and use. Replace it sooner if damaged or subjected to a severe impact, even without visible damage. Every day, inspect the hard top, shield, visor, tube and turbo, then check the airflow before entering the work area. Replace a clogged or damaged high efficiency filter and any cracked part. Use the turbo between -5 °C and 55 °C, recharge the battery with the supplied charger and store the kit clean and dry after the shift.
No. The kit includes the 9100 MP helmet, Adflo turbo, high efficiency filter, battery and charger; the welding filter is selected separately.
The 9100 MP has a hard top designed to protect the head, with an integrated welding shield and visor. Check that it meets the requirements of your site.
Yes. Raise the welding shield and work behind the clear visor, still supplied with filtered air.
Yes. The turbo lithium-ion battery and its charger are in the case.
Check the helmet, face seal, tube, filters and battery pack, then airflow according to the Adflo instructions. The separately selected welding filter must also be installed and checked. The hard top does not remove the need to verify the site's head-protection requirements.
To equip the work area for this configuration, protect the eyes during tasks away from the welding arc with eyewear (YA11329); protect the hands while handling cool parts with gloves (GS21TXUFNLTC); keep hearing protection available near the workstation with earplugs (O1100); mark access routes around the work area with marking (EPTCONE36); if the floor is wet, identify that hazard with a wet-floor sign (ETR01); this sign is not a welding-area barrier.
To make the shield ready for welding, add the 9100XXi auto-darkening filter (R06-0000-30i) and the outer plate (R06-0200-51) intended for 9100 helmets. The 9100MP face seal membrane (R27-0099-28) and the 9100MP grinding visor (R06-0700-54) in a bag of 5 maintain the facepiece. For the Adflo side, keep high efficiency filters (R15-0299-2), a pair of spark arrestors (R15/0009) and a spare lithium-ion battery (R35-1099-07).
