Repairing an air-supplied helmet means restoring coverage and assembly while checking retained respiratory components. The 3M Speedglas G5-03 Pro Air 45-0099-33 shell is the housing of the Pro Air helmet, the G5-03 version designed to receive air. 3M lists it as compatible with Adflo respirators and the TR-300+ and TR-600 series, for approved powered air purifying use; Versaflo supplied-air systems use their own authorised supply. It comes without headgear and without a welding filter: the welder refits the G5 model suspension and the filter from the original helmet, or new parts. Side windows are integrated. This part extends the life of a respiratory welding system when only the housing is cracked, deformed or too marked by spatter.
A replacement respiratory-helmet shell must preserve more than equipment appearance. It receives headpiece components involved in helmet support, visibility and correct integration of the air supply. The 45-0099-33 restores a G5-03 Pro Air with a damaged outer shell without requiring a new optical filter or serviceable blower.
Side windows are part of this shell. They supplement the central view to help the wearer notice movement around the workstation, useful when moving between welding and preparation areas. G5 suspension and filter must still be transferred or ordered after their condition has been checked.
Once the helmet has been rebuilt within an approved system, Pro Air distribution helps tailor airflow comfort around the face and head. This depends on the complete assembly: the bare shell does not filter air or replace the face seal, tube or respirator checks.
The shell is mainly used by general manufacturing shops running Pro Air helmets with Adflo turbos or Versaflo TR-300+ and TR-600 respirators. It allows a helmet to be repaired after a fall, a housing burnt by spatter in a welding cell to be replaced, or a spare part to be kept in stock to avoid taking a complete respiratory system out of service.
Use the welding helmet only between -5 and +55 °C. Do not use it where contact with an open flame is possible. With a G5TW or G5VC filter, do not use the helmet in flammable or explosive atmospheres: these filters are not intrinsically safe. Once the respiratory system is assembled, do not use it in oxygen-deficient atmospheres, unknown contaminant concentrations or conditions immediately dangerous to life or health. The rebuilt helmet is not suitable for laser welding or heavy-duty overhead welding where molten metal may fall. As supplied, the shell is neither ready for welding nor respiratory protection: it has no welding filter, no headgear and no connected respirator. ANSI Z87.1 compliance covers the complete helmet assembled with an approved filter, and CSA Z94.3 compliance the G5-03 Pro Air fitted with a G5TW, G5VC or passive shade 10, 11, 12 or 13 filter.

Not included: headgear, welding filter, respirator and safety helmet.
Install a G5 model suspension in the shell, then a G5TW or G5VC filter or a passive filter of shade 10, 11, 12 or 13 with its plates. Then connect the helmet to the selected Adflo, TR-300+ or TR-600 respirator with the connecting parts specified by 3M. Before resuming work, check filter retention, helmet tilt and air delivery.
G5-03 Pro Air platform, model 45-0099-33, polyphthalamide (PPA) shell, black colour, side windows. Weight listed by 3M: 2.957 lb / 1.341 kg. Sold as one unit, without headgear or filter.
First identify the helmet as Pro Air: a similar shell shape does not authorise a Pro or E part. Examine mounting points, front panel, suspension and airflow components before moving them onto the replacement shell. Spatter-protection parts and the face seal must be refitted correctly.
After assembly, check stability, central and peripheral visibility and tube positioning. In a respiratory assembly, check airflow with the approved supply before returning to an exposed area. Replacing only the shell does not justify retaining a loaded particulate filter or damaged battery pack: those components retain their own inspection and replacement criteria.
Inspect the shell at every reassembly and before the shift: a crack, deformation or damaged attachment point requires replacement. Do not clean it with solvents, immerse it or spray liquid on it. Keep the spare part in its packaging, away from heat and impacts, until assembly.
No. It is sold without headgear and without a welding filter; install a G5 model suspension.
Adflo, TR-300+ and TR-600 are powered air purifying systems. Supplied-air use requires the Versaflo V-Series valve and separate air supply specified in the complete 3M-approved configuration.
A G5TW or G5VC filter or a passive filter of shade 10, 11, 12 or 13, with its protection plates.
The 45-0099-35 is the G5-03 Pro Air helmet sold without filter; the 45-0099-33 is the shell sold without headgear or filter.
Check filter and headgear retention, the face seal, air-distribution components and tube, followed by operation of the complete respiratory system. The shell may be new while another component remains worn, so every transferred part requires inspection.
For a maintenance technician fitting this shell to a Pro Air system, plan clear Cee-Tec glasses (YA12E93101DX) with foam seal against shop dust and cut-resistant Kevlar Dexterity gloves (GS13KFNT) for handling sharp edges. Disposable cordless earplugs (O1100) protect hearing during trials, while yellow Caution barricade tape (ECT3YE1) and a yellow and black extensible barrier (EPT195) isolate the station.
For maintenance of this configuration, select the components corresponding to the parts being replaced: component (R35-5401-01) 3M Adflo Complete PAPR Turbo Assembly with Lithium-Ion Battery, spare (R35-1499-01) 3M Adflo Turbo Assembly, without Belt,, accessory (R15-0099-16) 3M Adflo Leather Belt for PAPR. For model 45-0099-33, check the model on the worn part before servicing; parts from other series are not interchangeable by default. To compare model 45-0099-33 with distinct configurations, also review variant (RG5-03-E09-0100), solution (RG5-03E). Compare their contents with model 45-0099-33; the parts are not presumed interchangeable.
