Renew the 9100 helmet's protective outer shell with the 3M Speedglas 06-0300-52SW and its side windows. It retains the platform's peripheral view and accepts compatible components from the original helmet. Filter, headgear and front panel are excluded; this is a repair part to assemble and check before use.
No returnable if used. For more information about our return policy, please refer to the Orders and Returns.

A replacement shell can restore a familiar helmet without discarding a serviceable filter and suspension after inspection. The 3M Speedglas 9100 06-0300-52SW shell is a replacement part for 9100 series welding helmets. It returns to service a helmet whose shell is cracked, burnt or deformed, while keeping the filter, headgear and front panel that are still usable. It has the side windows typical of the range, but 3M supplies it without a welding filter, headgear or front panel. Once reassembled with these parts and approved protection plates, it regains the uses of the 9100 helmet: welding, grinding, sanding, assembly and plant maintenance.
A damaged shell does not automatically require discarding optics and suspension that remain sound. The 06-0300-52SW enables a 9100 helmet repair while retaining compatible components after inspection. Side windows are included, but the filter, headgear and front panel are not, so these parts must be considered when preparing the repair.
The Speedglas catalogue associates the 9100 platform with deeper coverage around the sides of the head and neck than 9000 helmets. Side windows supplement the view through the main filter and help the wearer notice movement near the workstation. They do not replace the welding filter for viewing an arc. Comfort after rebuilding also depends on the condition and adjustment of the retained suspension.
This reference is relevant when heat or spatter has damaged the outer shell but the rest of the helmet remains serviceable. It should not be ordered as a complete helmet or as a shell interchangeable with FX, MP or G5 versions.
The 06-0300-52SW shell belongs to the Speedglas 9100 series. It receives a welding filter, protection plates, a front panel and headgear intended for this series. It does not apply to 9100 MP helmets, G5 series or the 9000 series.

Not included: welding filter, headgear and front panel.
The shell is of interest to maintenance departments in construction, heavy infrastructure and industry that manage a fleet of 9100 helmets. It is used to repair a helmet after a fall from scaffolding, to replace a shell marked by spatter in a structural shop, or to keep a spare shell in the tool crib to limit a welder's downtime.
Remove the filter, plates, front panel and headgear from the damaged shell, then install them in the new shell following the 3M instructions for the 9100 helmet. Replace scratched protection plates at the same time. Before welding, check that the filter is held securely, that the helmet tilts correctly and that no light passes around the viewing area.
Once the helmet is rebuilt, follow the approved filter limitations: no laser welding, processes requiring shade 14 or higher, or heavy-duty overhead work where molten metal may fall. Operate the welding filter only between -5 and +55 °C. On its own, the shell is not equipment ready for welding: without a filter, it does not protect against arc radiation. ANSI Z87.1-2010 and CSA Z94.3 compliance covers the configuration assembled with an approved filter, not the shell alone. It provides no respiratory protection.
Remove components according to the helmet instructions and examine each part before transfer. Pay attention to filter retainers, protection-plate condition and suspension pivot components. Worn retainers can undermine stability even with a new shell.
After rebuilding, check that the front panel closes correctly and the filter is secure in its housing. Adjust the headgear to align the eyes with the viewing area and check raised and lowered positions. A shell replacement does not change the retained filter's shades, sensitivity or delay. Clean side windows according to the instructions; if visibility remains impaired, replace the affected parts instead of continuing with a reduced view.
Inspect the shell at every reassembly and before each use: a crack, deformation, burn mark or damaged side window justifies removing it from service. Clean it with a damp cloth, without solvents. Keep the spare shell in its packaging until assembly, away from heat and impacts.
No. It is sold without a welding filter; reinstall the existing 9100 filter or order one.
No. The shell is sold without headgear and without a front panel.
No. It belongs to the Speedglas 9100 series; the 9100 MP and G5 series use their own parts.
Yes. The side windows are part of this shell.
No. They widen peripheral awareness around the workstation. Optical protection for viewing an arc comes from the appropriate welding filter, which is not supplied with this shell. Plates, front panel and suspension must also be installed before use.
For a maintenance mechanic fitting this shell to a 9100 helmet, plan Nemesis glasses (YA3297) with clear lens to keep under the helmet and TenActiv cut-resistant gloves (GS13TAGPU) with polyurethane coating for handling small parts. Classic earplugs (OA101) protect hearing in the shop, the welding respirator (R8214) is added if the assessment allows it, and red Danger barricade tape (ECT3RE9) isolates the station during trials.
To rebuild a complete 9100 helmet, the 9100X auto-darkening filter (R06-0000-20) is used with the 9100X inner plate (R06-0200-20), while the 9100XXi model (R06-0000-30i) offers another filter option in the series. The outer (R06-0200-51) plate protects the filter from spatter, the 9100 rear headgear part (R06-0400-54) replaces the back of a worn suspension, and the magnifier (R06-0500-56) plate with 1.5x magnification fits 9100 helmets.
