The 3M Speedglas G5-01 46-1101-30VC pairs a G5VC Variable Colour filter with a heavy-duty Adflo system. Tailor the view of the pool, distribute air within the helmet and lift the welding shield to expose the grinding visor. This product is a complete respirator assembly, not a standalone ADF.

For welding followed by grinding, this version combines filter-tone selection with the airflow adjustments of a heavy-duty headpiece. With the 3M Speedglas G5-01 46-1101-30VC kit, the welder receives a heavy-duty helmet already fitted with the G5VC auto-darkening filter and an Adflo powered respirator ready to use. The G5VC switches from light shade 3 to dark shades 5 and 8 to 14; it combines natural colour and variable colour, with 4 sensors, a 2.9 X 4.3 in / 73 X 109 mm view and a clearing time adjustable from 50 to 1300 ms. For grinding, the G5-01 welding shield flips up to expose the clear visor without removing the helmet. The case also contains the turbo high efficiency filter, prefilter, spark arrestor, lithium-ion battery, charger, wide leather belt and self-adjusting tube.
G5VC suits a welder seeking to tailor weld-pool appearance to the material and workstation lighting. Variable Colour allows different tones to be compared in the dark state, while Natural Colour supports detail recognition before and during welding. Tone adjustment and shade selection remain separate operations.
G5-01 adds a layout suited to frequent grinding: the welding shield lifts in front of a curved clear visor. Parts can be examined and prepared while the headpiece remains in place. Air-distribution controls and adjustable headgear help the wearer seek stable support and comfortable circulation around the face.
The Canadian brochure associates the 46-1101-30VC with high-altitude Adflo and a heavy-duty lithium-ion battery. It states 10 to 12 hours with a full charge and new filter at sea level, noting that actual duration depends on configuration and environment. Filters and altitude restrictions must remain those of the approved assembly.
3M recommends this kit for general manufacturing and heavy infrastructure: metal repair and processing, welding and grinding. The G5VC range, which goes up to shade 14, widens the settings available to the welder, always selected according to the table in the instructions. The kit suits large fabrication projects, equipment rebuild shops and extended shifts where the welder stays under particulate respiratory protection.
Do not use the assembly where contact with an open flame is possible. Do not use it in oxygen-deficient atmospheres, atmospheres of unknown composition or atmospheres immediately dangerous to life or health.
The Adflo turbo filters particles only. It retains neither gases nor vapours and does not supply oxygen; follow the 3M restrictions on oxygen, unknown contaminants and atmospheres immediately dangerous to life or health. The turbo is not intrinsically safe. No laser welding or heavy overhead work exposing the wearer to molten metal.
The shade is selected according to the table in the 3M G5VC instructions, applying the most restrictive 3M limitation.

This kit is the complete helmet with respirator, not the G5VC filter sold alone. Gas and vapour cartridges are not included.
NIOSH approved as a system, the kit offers according to 3M a protection factor of 25 once assembled with its approved components. The employer first checks that the exposure is limited to particles, then trains the welder in airflow checks, alarms and consumable replacement. Adflo spare parts are listed among Adflo welding respirators; other exposures call for a solution chosen from our respiratory protection range.
G5-01 platform, G5VC 46-0000-30VC filter, light shade 3, dark shades 5 and 8 to 14, 4 sensors, 2.9 X 4.3 in / 73 X 109 mm view, clearing time from 50 to 1300 ms. Belt-mounted turbo, lithium-ion battery, magenta high efficiency filter, not intrinsically safe, 60-month service life. Operation from -5 °C to 55 °C, storage from -20 °C to 55 °C. Polyphthalamide (PPA) shell. Packed weight: 14.601 lb / 6.623 kg. Meets ANSI Z87.1-2015 and CSA Z94.3 with its exact filter; NIOSH approved as a system.
Set G5VC by starting with the shade required for the process, then adjust colour tone to help read joint contrast. A colour change does not justify reducing a necessary shade. Also check sensors and protection plates beforehand; optical visibility depends on their cleanliness.
For the powered air purifying respirator, the instructions distinguish filter-loading indication from battery indication. Increased filter resistance can raise motor demand despite automatic regulation. Monitor prefilter and high-efficiency filter condition, perform the airflow check and leave the area immediately if an alarm activates. Clean blower and battery surfaces with a suitable cloth, without immersion or compressed-air cleaning inside the blower.
At the start of the shift, examine the shell, visor, G5VC filter and its plates, then the tube, belt and turbo, and check the airflow. The prefilter and spark arrestor are replaced as soon as they are clogged or damaged; the high efficiency filter follows the Adflo instructions. Keep the turbo between -5 °C and 55 °C in service and between -20 °C and 55 °C in storage. The stated 60-month service life does not replace inspections.
It is a complete kit: G5-01 helmet, G5VC filter, Adflo turbo, high efficiency filter, prefilter, spark arrestor, battery, charger, belt and tube.
The G5VC adjusts to shade 5 and from 8 to 14, with a shade 3 light state.
3M states a service life of 60 months, subject to the inspections and replacements set out in the instructions.
No. The high efficiency filter protects against particles; gases and vapours require a different respiratory selection.
It also adds Variable Colour to tailor the dark-state tone and help reveal pool or joint detail. Protective shade is selected separately for the task. The kit retains Adflo, the grinding visor and G5-01 comfort adjustments.
